Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomQuite Noisy at night to be expected also can hear other people in the building, to be expected as an old place. £20 To park your car overnight bit excessive tbh.
Very close to the centre and the castle. Spacious room, felt secure. Clean I'd stay again

United KingdomThe booking.com detailsfor this accommodation states parking available. This is true but it costs £20 per night by card or £15 per night for cash. (I do not understand why there's a difference).Anyway I made alternative arrangements. The details are misleading
Room was very clean. Everything worked. Tea/coffee/milk provided

United KingdomNo flexibility in relation to the check in time. Informed on my way to the area for work that I need to arrive by 9pm as that's when staff leave. If I arrive after 9pm I have a fee of £20 to pay. Informed Staff that I would be travelling from outside Walsall after an even appointment. Very stressful to arrive by 9pm ( No key staff service). Stood at entrance with door open whilst Staff explained the expectation of the stay. Then and there handed paperwork stating the £40 deposit required from the same bank card for any damage. Will be reimbursed but no clarity on the specific time (up to 5 days I believe) Informed Camera's all round. Did ask if any provision to access wifi and space to hold an online meeting after check out time(10am). No provision. Even though clients check out they might need to stay in the area( Room only) Informed about the toilet system (toilet incinerator) which makes a lot of noise once flushed for a significant period of time. Staff very impatient. Even when I tried the keys in the front door, with difficulty the staff open the door from inside suddenly causing discomfort/shock to self.

United KingdomThe staff took a £100 block on my credit card which I didn’t realise till I got there, it wasn’t a problem but would have been nice to know before I got there as it took 15/20 mins and we had plans as soon as we got into Nottingham.
Location was perfect, bed was comfy and everything was neat and tidy.

United KingdomThe booking and check in process is very long winded and difficult. I booked using a card for a joint account but because it had my husbands name on it, I had to request a refund and then pay again, with the card in my name. The security deposit was £80 (or £50 per room if we wanted to pay separately) and I wasn’t allowed to use contactless, insisted on chip and pin for security reasons which I didn’t understand.
The property was clean and very well situated.

AustriaI read about the requirements to pay a deposit on arrival and necessary pre-notification of arrival time in other reviews, so this didn't come as a surprise and were acceptable. The hotel's toilet system is called saniflow and doesn't allow for any items to be flushed, making it quite noisy when it needs to repeat the suction, especially at night when my neighbour used their bathroom.
The hotel is more of a maisonette, with rooms on the first and second floor. My room was nice and spacious, facing the street and equipped with desk/chair and clothes rail. It's located on a small hill near the castle.

United KingdomFirstly, it was not easy to find. Google maps sent me to the right place but there was no obvious signage. Window was sealed shut and painted over leaving no ventilation. Vent in bathroom was too great so i was concerned about setting smoke alarm off.
Good location. Out of town centre so roads not busy and next to castle. Easy walk to town centre though

United Kingdomright- the bathroom shower was a major issue -the water was not hot! it came out hot at first burst and then cold so did not enjoyed the shower, but the lighting was great
it was a double room, small but comfortable temperature was ok basic facilities were available. location on 2nd floor -no lifts were a downside but not a major problem. the hotelier was in his dressing gown when he came to greet us, so i was a little taken aback with the meet/greet he explained all that we needed to know really, all we needed was available, the room was clean but the towels did not smell nice

United KingdomThere seemed to be street drinkers at the back of the hotel, who were throwing empty drink cans over the wall of the hotel during the evening. It was difficult to get to sleep because of the noise outside the hotel: cars revving, doors slamming. The sink isn't in the bathroom, so you can't wash your hands before touching the light switch or door handle after using the toilet.
The room was well stocked with tea and coffee. It was nicely decorated.
