Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only thing which could be improved would be curtains for the bedroom windows as the streetlights outside are a little bright.
The property is in a perfect location to explore the area. It is clean, comfortable and being able to make a real fire was lovely. The biscuits on arrival was a nice touch and having a choice of tea was a bonus. It feels very homely and we would definitely stay again.

United KingdomWe liked everything but we had a bit of difficulty with the timing of the heating. However, our host came round very quickly to help us out. Otherwise everything worked really well
A comfortable, warm and well-equipped cottage with everything we needed. The location is excellent. We were able to walk to everything in the town. The cottage is just a short walk to the bottom of the gorge and the caves and an easy walk to a good range of local shops and restaurants.

United KingdomExcellent location just up from the gorge attractions but far enough away not to be bothered by them. Great spot for walking the Mendips generally and the circular walk around both sides of the gorge is well recommended. The village also has both a Tesco Express and a good sized Sainsburys as well as a local bakery and butcher. There are also a number of restaurants and pubs though we only tried La Rocca Italian which was very good. Hosts were pleasant and also very approachable. We would definitely stay again.

GermanyThere was a bit of mold behind the teddy bear in the bedroom and hand soap in the bathroom would have been nice.
We had a great time at this lovely little cottage. The cottage was well equipped with everything you could need. The fully functional wood burner with plenty of wood was really cosy as well.

United KingdomAlthough the beds were Emma mattresses we didn’t find them very comfortable - maybe we’re just spoiled by what we have at home as many guests have found the beds amazing! The big square dinner plates are difficult to arrange in the slimline dishwasher, which can only be used on 1 setting. As there were 3 of us staying in the property, only the double and 1 single bed were made up on arrival which was disappointing - sleeping arrangements shouldn’t be assumed, so I had to call and ask for the bedding! The toilet takes 12 minutes to fill up (yes, we timed it), so couldn’t be pulled at night when our son was in bed as the noise would have disrupted his sleep. There is a small window directly opposite the bathroom door that backs onto a workshop where workers can see directly into the bathroom / toilet - a small blind should be placed here that can be pulled for privacy! There is a 2 seater sofa and 1 armchair - as the property is for 4 people there should be at least 1 more armchair. I don’t know what we would have done if there was 4 of us. There was only 2 towels on arrival - I had to call for 1 extra bath towel, face and hand towels. The owners were very attentive to our needs, mind, so we have no complaints there!
The location was excellent to experience all that Cheddar Gorge has to offer, although up a fairly steep hill so if you’re not one for walking you would need a car, as we did!! There was a big open fireplace with logs aplenty left for your enjoyment. While the accommodation looks big from the outside, it’s not at all big on the inside but perfectly formed with some beautiful beams. The walk-in shower very powerful. The property also has everything you’ll need on your stay.

United KingdomThe only issue we had was that the fridge needed a bit of a clean and the salad tray was full of water, but it was easily rectified!
The cottage was cosy, well equipped and in a fantastic location within walking distance of all local attractions and amenities. Such an enjoyable stay we will definitely be back xx

United KingdomWe would have loved some plug sockets in the spare room, otherwise everything else was great.
We loved staying at Red Rose cottage, it was perfectly situated being so close to the local pubs, shops and restuarants. The beds were extremly comfortable and the fire place really made it magical for Christmas. Lots of laughing, eating and rainy walks were had!

United Kingdombooking .com could be better and should respond when they have failed a customer completely. Red Rose Cottage was great thank you Tracy and David, sorry about the booking .com rant but they do not offer any opportunity to review their customer service .
All was great with Red Rose Cottage, we highly recommend. Booking .com was okay on this booking but be wary as the last time we booked with them the Hotel was full and we had to return home, to date they have offered no compensation.

United KingdomEverything about the cottage is good. We had to leave because it is way too far from my school and we needed to stay somewhere closer until we are able to secure accommodation.
Having the whole flat to ourselves, had privacy.
