It was expensive for a room and then we had to pay extra to park the car and for breakfast.

Location was brilliant. Room was quaint, nicely decorated and clean with wonderful views of the Ashmolean and Balliol College.

Terrible music being piped over the tannoy in the lounge. Lifts rattle and need stabilising. Gaudy decoration which does not quite fit the dignity of a beautiful building.

Comfortable bed and good location. Excellent desk, concierge and bar service.

The bar and restaurant service was poor. It took an extensive time to get any service despite repeated requests. The same was true in the dining room. We only tried the breakfast, which was a buffet but it took forever or you were completely forgotten to get coffee or tea. The tables were small so there was no one to remove a plate to make room for anything else. I also questioned if many of the staff even understood enough English to know what you were even asking for.

Beautiful historic building in ideal location. Large room. Very comfortable bed.

The restaurant is good, I had breakfast and dinner and both were very good. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Barman was very knowledgeable about cocktails and the spirits he was serving. Location is excellent, in the heart of Oxford and close to many of the sights.

Hadn’t got room sorted when we arrived, and had to chase up to get our luggage. For the relative cost, I had high expectations. Corridor on top floor was tired with paint peeling off the wall. No explanation if there were renovations happening.

    Great location. Room was Devine

We never managed to get the hot water working in the shower, which is disappointing in a hotel of this standing. The restaurant staff seemed very new and not hugely clued up, and the restaurant itself was more pretentious than truly high quality. The food was good but the beer was stale, we were asked to wait for a table when the restaurant was all but empty, and dessert was served in a glass instead of an appropriate dish, making it hard to access.

The location was perfect, the hotel staff lovely and the room quiet and very comfortable. We slept really well.

Cold showers on the Sunday, bedroom requests i.e. milk, pillows not actioned, long wait for the lone gentleman manning the leave luggage to be able to attend to us. For a very expensive hotel this was disappointing.

Breakfast was very disappointing and over priced. The bacon was barely cooked, the eggs overcooked, the coffee very weak and the pot of tea lukewarm. The pancakes were good as was the yoghurt and berries. A lively hotel let down by its breakfast.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel was very well appointed and clean. Room was a great size , comfortable and very clean. The hotel is well situated for walking around Oxford.

Minor point but car valets parked my car facing oncoming traffic. Depending on time of day it made it difficult to easily begin our journey.

We loved the building, the lounges and the quirky bedroom. A very interesting stay. Attentive staff.

We were assigned a room on the top floor, which was accessible only by a steep, narrow staircase from the 4th floor that starkly contrasted with the rest of the hotel's decor. It felt like navigating through attic corridors to reach our room. I believe the floor our room was located on must have actually originally been some sort of an attic, later converted to accommodate additional guest rooms. While the room itself was very pleasant, the journey to get there was rather uncomfortable and probably inaccessible for anyone with slight mobility issues. So make sure to request a room on the lower floors.

Visited this hotel for one night as a valentine's trip with my partner. The hotel's interior is beautiful and classic, and its central location is incredibly convenient. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was very spacious and clean.
