    Breakfast, gosh!!

Nothing exceptional, decoration a bit dated and in need of a refresh. Met my need of a place to stay and a decent sleep.

Breakfast could have been better. Hot food wasn’t replenished very well. Only one member of staff covering reception and booking in for breakfast. She did her best, so do not blame her.

Very small details; the tea/coffee machine in the breakfast room isn't good, it doesn't heat the water to the right temperature. We ask for a plunger coffee and pot of tea in the mornings which the hotel will happily do. The iron in our room leaked, while plugged in, water was all over the ironing board in two minutes. The hotel were happy to change it but do keep an eye on these appliances. There was no light by the wardrobe, which is in a dark space in the room. The Afternoon Tea, which we have had several times as a takeaway, had no actual tea with it, and one salmon blini was missing. Instead of butter there seemed to be a margarine spread in the sandwiches. We hoped to book a small post-wedding event, using the Auxerre suite as we have mobility impaired guests and there's no lift to the Terry Suite, for four hours on a weekday afternoon in September but unfortunately the hotel's wedding planner wasn't free to talk to us, and didn't request our details to discuss it. We found a nearby alternative.

We stay here a lot and the staff, room and breakfast are all great. We ordered a takeaway Afternoon Tea, which we have had a few times, and the cakes and scones are always very good.

Literally the only issue was that the cold water wasn’t very cold and the deluxe room was 2 single beds pushed together.

The staff were absolutely exceptional - from the ladies on the front desk to the chefs in the kitchen. Absolutely impeccable service and so friendly.

The room was not as expected and not really suitable for someone in a wheelchair who requires a single bed, We had requested a twin-bedded room but the family room provided ony had one bed and a put-up bed.

We enjoyed our meals at the hotel.

A lovely, friendly, relaxed hotel. The staff are friendly and willing to help. They also helped with the car park (which I did pay). But they did advise me on how I can get the car park charged wavered for my next visit. I would recommend this hotel for their helpfulness alone.

We had booked 2 nights there, but the room we booked wasn't ready for us when we arrived. To have a room with a bathtub as we had booked, we had to have a room that was made up as a double then pull the beds apart which left us with bedding only for 1. Reception didn't know where there were any spare duvets or blankets, so the first night I slept without any covers or sheets, just on top of the mattress topper which had yellow stains on.🤦🏻‍♀️ Next morning they brought bedding and made the beds. Room wasn't properly clean on arrival. Dusty surfaces and dusty/streaky mirror. Damp black marks around the window frame, mostly along the bottom, (which you could wipe even with finger). No food at all (not even snacks) available Sunday after 5pm. We had been for a long drive and had to wanted to eat something in the hotel that evening. (Not sure what time food stops on other nights, so best check). When you drive up to the hotel, the entrance is lovely but doesn't look like the picture in their advert because that picture is of the back of the hotel. At the front, the main part entrance looks lovely but the modern looking extension to the right of it spoils it and looks like a "basic motel". Try not to get a room that is ground floor at the front in the modern extension, because when you look out of the window you just see parked cars that are parked right up to your window. No lift. No "salon/lounge, as it only has a small bar with a quite small conservatory to relax in.

Location was absolutely ideal for us. Room (first floor to the left of entrance) was spacious and with view of trees and driveway. Hot tub was lovely (although the jets aren't at all strong enough).

On arrival, we weren't offered an explanation of what was on offer at the hotel and about the grounds as it would have been nice to have been informed about the gym and location of it. Or where in the grounds you could walk and enjoy what it had to offer. Having not stayed before, I was not aware. Had booked 2 rooms, and they had placed us on separate floors. On going to our room, there was dirt along the stairs and carpets that required hoovering. The hoover was on the second floor, just left out unplugged. Going into the bar area, most tables required clearing up, and it wasn't until 3 hours of us being there that this happened. The bar itself was full of dirty glasses and again wasn't cleared until much later on that evening. When wanting a drink, we had to buzz for attention, and it took a while for someone to come. This was the same for both nights we stayed and other guests were as surprised as myself in this situation. Clearly, a staff shortage or the hotel is trying to cut back costs.

The staff at the front desk were lovely and pleasant. They helped to complete an easy booking in and out process. The room was basic but had what you needed, and we had maid service refresh the room for our 2nd night. Food on offer was good and presented lovely, the club sandwich was good value for money. In the morning there was a good choice for breakfast, on the Sunday it was buffet style and the Monday our cooked breakfast was made to order.

Rooms are a little tired, but very expensive to refurbish. Given the economy over the previous few years it is understandable that maintaining a high standard is demanding.
