Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesShower had several hairs stuck to the walls which is bothersome since the shower was also tiny. It was impossible not to come in contact with walls so cleanliness should have been prioritized. Carpet also appeared dirty, especially unclean in crevices near furniture. Instructions for leaving keys in the door upon checkout concerned me. They should have a drop box as I didn't want to be responsible if someone entered the room after I left.
Location was great. I was able to walk to Notting Hill and had no trouble locating metro/underground stops in the vicinity. Space was as expected. Was nice to have a mini fridge to store food and water.

SloveniaPrice per night is high for such a small room. The room (eg. trash) was not cleaned daily during the stay.
Location a few minutes' walk from underground stations; friendly and helpful staff, fridge and TV available in room (which would not be necessarily expected for such a small room).

United KingdomA bit tatty and steep stairs. Manky old fridge in the room. As room was warm we had the windows open. The street is very noisy.
A warm welcome for a dapper Mr J. He booked us in and explained all we needed to know. Handy for Shepherds Bush Empire.

RomaniaBathroom was a bit dirty and the drain seemed a little faulty. If you took a longer shower, the floor would be drenched. Still, it wasn't a big deal. Just something that could be improved.
Very well situated. Within 10 minutes leisurely walk to Shepherd's Bush, if that. About 10-15 to Hammersmith station. The beds were quite comfortable and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. The room also had basic amenities like an electric kettle and such, which was appreciated.

United KingdomThe bathroom had a line that looked like old gaffer tape glue up near the ceiling and there was no bath mat provided so we had to use one of our face towels instead. Not a major problem though.
Our welcome was so warm and friendly. Mr J was really personable and kind, and very flexible with helping us to check in and out. The room was basic but clean and comfortable, and we appreciated that there was a fan (many hotels of this budget tier don’t bother thinking of that!)

ItalyNot a negative aspect, but more of a disclaimer to people suffering from back issues. Steps are steep and there is no elevator. Make sure you get a ground floor room:)
The hotel is located in a convenient area in Shepherd's Bush, just literally one minute walk from bus stops and ten minutes from three tube stations. The staff is super friendly, super flexible, and there to help for whatever problem. Rooms are super basic but honestly beyond average, in that price range. Especially if you don't have much luggage, this is the perfect place to be. I would recommend this solution especially to lone travelers: very quiet at night, very safe.

IndiaIt's an old place , so no lift. Extremely cramped space. It will be super troublesome to carry your luggages in your room. If you can ignore these things, you'll like the location and safety. Shops and a pub nearby . Bus stops are nearby as well.
I really liked Jay and his warm approach. He is so kind and explained us a lot of things face to face. I wanted a lot of tea and milk bags. He offered so generously! The room was very very small but it was fine enough to be cozy. The heater worked well and we all slept very well.

United KingdomThe room and facilities could have been cleaner as it was a little run down (some black mold). It's likely the build of the hotel though. Front of the house where our room was, was a little noisy as main road with emergency services near plus could hear other guests.
Staff were very friendly and upgraded our room! It was a comfy room which was good for what we needed - somewhere to sleep. There was a fridge also which was very helpful. It was good value for money!

United KingdomAlthough the office chair was very good, perversely there was no desk or table in the room apart from a very narrow shelf which was too small for a laptop or even a tablet. There was no enclosed storage space anywhere in the room (no wardrobe or chests of drawers), with hanging space provided by a set of coat hooks by the door to the room. The room overlooked the Shepherd's Bush Road, an extremely busy thoroughfare, so although the windows could be opened, most people may not wish to. The room does have aircon however, so this might not be a serious shortcoming for most guests.
My second stay at this hotel. The room was on the first floor (2nd floor for Americans) was clean and was extremely large. It contained two double beds, one of which was very comfortable (I didn't use the other as I was travelling solo). The room had a very comfortable office chair, a very good TV with streaming facilities including Netflix, ample, well sited power points, most with additional USB sockets, tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge (more on that below). The windows of the room could be opened. The bathroom was clean and all plumbing facilities worked as expected (w.c., sink, shower enclosure and heated towel rail). There is no lift, but as there was only one flight of stairs this was not an issue. There was no decaffeinated coffee available, but as I always carry my own supply, this was not an issue.
