Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a view sitting outside the back of the property but it still had a large sitting area and would be a perfect sun trap.
It was extremely good value for money because you had everything you needed and it was a lovely touch to see a bottle of rose wine with Welsh cakes as our arrival gifts!

United KingdomEverything was great
It's probably the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. It is great value for money and great location, many attractions less than an hr drive away and Bala town itself very quiet with beautiful scenery. The cottage is absolutely spotless and well equipped for a comfortable stay. Perfect place for families, kitchen got everything you need for cooking. Tea, cofee, sugar and milk provided. Owners also left a complimentary bottle of prosecco and welsh cakes which was very nice. Spacious and very cosy living room, ps3 and board games kept kids entertained. Beds were super comfy. Private parking. Owners sent very clear instructions how to get there and how to check in, as well as recommendations of what to visit and where to eat. It honestly felt just like home, and we would definitely stay again.

United KingdomThe weather, altho' it was February, however the cottage was always cosy and warm.
The cottage is in a great quiet location, near the foot of Lake Bala. Parking for several vehicles is opposite the house and private. The cottage is very comfortable and with every facility that you might need inside and out. There is full central heating plus a log burning stove in the lounge - you will never be cold. The village ,although small, has a good pub/restaurant they also sell some basic commodities' but for a full range of shop we went to Bala which is les than 10 minutes drive away. The cottage location was also ideal for visiting the many local tourist locations,/areas.

United KingdomWe can honestly say there was nothing we didn’t like! Everything was perfect.
This is the most amazing accommodation we have stayed in. Instructions pre-arrival were fabulous, the house was so well equipped and luxurious we felt completely spoilt the moment we stepped in. Colin was very helpful and the cottage was lovely and warm and provided us with everything we needed, so much so, we have booked for next year already. Thank you so much for an amazing stay.

United KingdomNothing, it was all good.
The cottage is very clean, comfy & spacious. Plenty of parking for our cars & van. Lots of small touches make it a home from home, eg Prosecco & cake left for us. The views from upstairs over the river & fields with sheep are lovely when you wake up. We enjoyed good food & drinks at the local village pub, The Eagle, which is 5 mins walk

United KingdomNothing.
We loved our stay at Pen Y Bont Cottage. The surrounding area is lovely with scenic views over the mountains. The location is great for exploring Snowdonia National Park as well as trips further afield to Conwy in the North and the western coastal areas. The cottage is very quaint and has been beautifully refurbished on the inside. It is very spacious and comfortable and has plenty of space for a family. All the rooms are very well equipped and the cottage feels like a home rather than a rental. Host was very friendly (bottle of prosecco waiting for us when we arrived) and we got very detailed information prior to arrival. Would definitely go again.
