Our stay at the retro private lodge near Dartmoor was simply wonderful. Nestled in a serene setting, it offered the ideal escape for a couple's vacation. The highlight was the amazing hot tub, a secluded haven under the stars. Inside, the lodge was cozy and well-equipped, especially for coffee lovers with an excellent espresso machine and Lavazza coffee. We enjoyed peaceful mornings and even indulged in a delightful barbecue one evening.Our host, Paul, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring our stay was flawless. Overall, our experience was exceptional, earning a perfect 10 out of 10 rating. We highly recommend this tranquil retreat for a memorable getaway.

This was our second visit to Shute Lodge & was as perfect as it was last time we stayed. The lodge is equipped with everything you need. Kitchen has all you need to cook on stove or microwave even extras like oil & seasoning. Tea, coffee, sugar & milk provided. The bathroom is so clean & brilliant powerful shower with plenty of comfy towels. Bedroom has plenty of extra bedding & comfortable with a long mirror & night light. The living room is a nice space to relax in and watch online streaming television eg Netflix. The Internet connection is the best we've ever experienced as its Starlink. The outside deep pool (not a hot tub or jacuzzi) is always kept lovely & warm and easy to use. We love the feeling of being in our own world when staying there as the hosts are available if needed but give you total privacy.

Secluded and peaceful yet within easy walking distance of Bovey. Paul was a great host, calling by to check everything was okay and we appreciated the fresh flowers, and local produce. We loved the decor in the cabin, so many interesting and upcycled items such as the ladder for a towel rail and the wall mounted suitcase to hold the sweetie jar! It was also very well equipped so cooking a meal was not a problem and very comfortable.

It says it has WiFi but does not connect to the Internet. However, that was also a plus point to get away from it all. Loved that.

Only one silly thing, I absolutely loved being in the pool, come 7 in the morning I was in there, Just needed a seat to relax on(&maybe a floating table for a beer can)

Absolutely perfect little hidden gem,so peaceful, in there little splash pool listening to the birds and forgetting about life. Everything you need,they even give you little bits so you don't have to rush out!. Absolutely will go back.

great place for a getaway,quiet,secluded yet only a short walk into the town,met Paul on arrival & he immediately made you feel welcome & a nice touch with the fresh bread,milk,butter & eggs from their chickens.WiFi was very good & Tv with Netflix for the evening.

Everything. The attention to detail so you wouldn't need to bring anything and the genuine kindness of wanting you to enjoy your stay from Paul was really appreciated. The hot tub was our highlight as reason we booked and stayed perfectly warm & easy to use throughout our stay. The shower is absolute perfection and towels provided are really good quality. Also being able to use a firepit with wood provided was really lovely too. Even though we didn't use the eggs & bread provided (only as we couldn't be bothered to cook anything) we really appreciated the thought and happy we had milk in the fridge and tea & coffee options. If anybody wanted to cook its a fully stocked kitchen. The wifi connection is absolutely spot on aswell. Would love to stay there again someday.

We booked a weekend away and chose Shute Lodge, really friendly owner greeted us and the place was amazing, lots of privacy and very pleased with our booking. Had everything we needed, great kitchen and all the facilities were excellent; amazing to have an AC machine during this heatwave. Cooking hob worked great, really nice to have the TV with Netflix to watch in the evening while having dinner. Inside of the lodge was very well presented and had a unique charm to it. The outdoor pool was good fun and it was a great temp, the outdoor shower included was a nice touch. Heated up in no time at all. Only a short walk down the road into Bovey Tracey or a short drive to the other cool locations in the area. Highly recommend to stay here. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

Everything is perfect!

This beautiful hidden gem is truly wonderful! So very well thought out, very welcoming feel aswell as the hosts. From being to end of our stay it was truly fantastic. Hidden away it really has a luxury, cosy rural feel that is peaceful and tranquil. The pool and outside shower is an amazing extra we spent our whole weekend in this little heaven with not one complaint, totally impressed, relaxed and content. Would recommend Shute Lodge over and over cant wait to return!

Beautifully presented and spotlessly clean. A cosy hideaway, but only a short walk to Bovey and at the gateway to Dartmoor, so something for everyone. Great hosts, who kindly provided bread, milk, butter, eggs and cider!
