This was our first stay at this hotel, but it certainly won't be the last! We were met with a lovely, bright lobby and an equally lovely, bright, welcoming young man on Reception. Our room was modern, clean, and spacious with a sofabed, and the mini-fridge was very useful. We found the bed very comfortable. I suffer from lower back pain, especially upon waking, but I didn't experience any back pain at all in this bed. The hotel is perfectly situated for the Utilita Arena, which was only a short 7-8 minute walk away, and this Novotel will now always be our 'go to' hotel for any events held there. There was a lot of outdoor noise coming from weekend party revellers, but that's to be expected, given the hotel's location. However, free, disposable foam earplugs were available from Reception if needed. There was an impressive selection of food choices for breakfast, and the food quality was excellent and so delicious! The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly. The car park under the hotel is quite small, so would recommend getting there early to ensure you get a space.

Not many sockets in the room. The toilet was in a separate room which had advantages but that meant that if someone was in the bathroom you couldn’t wash your hands. Only 2 mugs and 2 sachets of sugar provided for 3 people although we did get another 2 from reception on request.

The hotel was very modern and well presented. Staff were helpful and friendly with exceptional service in the dining room where the food was of a high standard. The room was clean and had plenty of towels and toiletries provided. There is a small car park under the hotel which was convenient.

There was carpets stains in our room and what looked like a cigarette burn on the side of the bath.

Location close to utilita and pubs/bars etc. Didn't use a taxi as everything was in walking distance of the hotel.

Location of the car park is not obvious and ended up in the Q Park.

Right on the start line for Great Birmingham Run. Reception area clean and modern, staff SO helpful and very attentive to my toddler. Breakfast in the morning was a bigger selection than I’m used to and the bed comfy

Could hear lots of noise from outside and also people using the lift. Not great lighting in the rooms, for getting ready etc... Could do with bright white not warm white.

The lack of sockets in the Bedroom and USB points not working. One was actually broken.

Very good location for Utilita Arena,where we went to see Peter Kay. Also found the car park an absolute godsend.

The toilet fan was a bit noisy but that was only a little issue as there was 2 doors we could shut to drown it out. The air con wasn't very good either and it got a bit stuffy in the room and you can't open the windows

Rooms were a little dated. Toilet was in a separate room to bath/shower & sink so had to touch 2 door handles before I could wash my hands.

Bar & restaurant area was modern and bright.

The price dispute was our only issue

We didn’t book breakfast until we arrived. There was a little dispute over the breakfast price as when we booked we were told it would be £12 per person but we were initially charged £13.50 per person. However, the duty manager honoured our booking price. Really very glad he did as we really enjoyed the breakfasts. I think it is probably one of the best hotel breakfasts that we’ve experienced, well cooked, plenty of variety and availability, great staff and service. We would like to single out your reception staff including Iuliana who were all very helpful and polite. Also the staff in the buffet breakfast.
