Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The lock box wasn't clear as there were 2 - spent ages trying to figure it out in the rain - may have been me?? plate on table was chipped - not by us building name unclear from pavement / entrance to area

United KingdomUnfortunately when we arrived we were greeted with a broken glass panel in the front door. Inside it wasn’t clean. Dirty fridge, hair in the sink and stained couch just a few things off the top of my head. The photos look very different to what we walked into. We were a group of 6 and we didn’t feel safe. We ended up staying somewhere else. I received an email with the address the morning we arrived. This address is not the same as the one on the information when booking. It took us about 20minuets to find the accommodation. I also received the number to get the key from the safe. There are locks on the bedrooms doors no number was provided for these which wasn’t an issue in the end as we didn’t stay. We called the number in the email to express our concerns and the guy came to see us within 15 minutes.
The guy who came to see about our concerns was very pleasant.

United KingdomTv didn’t work, stained bedding, dangerous window ledge, broken windows. Couldn’t open toilet window. Very unclean. There was 8 adults and 1 child only 2 cups and plates. Had to go to Tesco to buy disposable cups and also bought water. Wouldn’t eat in the apartment not fit for purpose

GhanaI made a deposit of 300 pounds before booking this apartment. They told me I should get my money back as soon as I checked out. After checking out i called for my money, they told me I will have to Wait for two or three days. It as been over a month now yet my money is no where to be found.
