Appetizing breakfast... Very clean. Comfortable mattress.

The bed in room 5 is regarded as a feature; it looks like something a Viking would sleep in! However it's massive and including the mattress must be at least 3 foot high. I'm 5ft 8in and found it a real struggle getting in and out of bed - we were given a step ladder to assist though that's not practical to use in the dark during the night. It did spoil the visit a little for me and was the one big negative but for two nights it was bearable. I would stay there again but request a room with a 'normal' bed. Also, a very minor issue, but for such an expensive hotel (and it's not cheap) I think there should be a toilet roll holder in the bathroom.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room very nice and clean. Balcony with view out across the village (only 2 rooms have one). Hotel does have a small free car park and is located in the village centre so not far to walk anywhere to local shops, pubs, restaurants etc. Breakfast is buffet style with a varied selection so you have to serve yourself. The 'cooked' food was scrambled eggs, sausages mushrooms and tomatoes (so a bit minimal IMO) but the Cumberland sausages were fantastic!!

The parking could be a little awkward, it relied on everyone parking within the spaces so to allow the maximum number of guests to use the car park.

The facilities were excellent. It was well situated within the village.

From before even arriving I was already Impressed with how well our needs were met ! The staff in particular a special thank you to John who was super efficient , friendly and knowledgeable. He made sure that our check in and arrival was smooth and went above and beyond to make our stay special. The entire property is impressive , clean and decorated in such a elegant way it really is a gem in such a stunning location close to everything you could possibly need for whatever your reason to visit ! We stayed in the suite which didn’t disappoint and came with a deep spa bath and shower in a spacious bathroom . Our bed was huge and super comfortable with delightful selection of pillows ! The room had such high ceilings and a lovely step up to a living area with vanity table , sofa , spacious wardrobe and set of drawers and additional tv to a large wall mounted tv opposite the humongous bed that had all your viewing needs already to sign in ! The fan heater came in handy on our stay as it was super hot but the room kept us and our dog adequately cool for the entire stay! On from the room leads out to a private patio area with hot tub and canopy ! The perfect way to end the day after a long walk in the stunning Grasmere and its neighbouring beauties. We came to kayak and had the most amazing time , a hot tub in a tropical rainstorm was a highlight I will lot forget in a hurry ! The breakfast selection is fresh , delicious and you’ll be happy to know if you’re not great at sticking to breakfast times that you can pop and get a plate and bring it to your room also ! That was a lovely way to start the day ! And utterly delicious ! Especially paired with a coffee from our coffee machine that came with such a great selection of tea and coffee! The little touches of spa robes and slippers really added to the experience and we will definitely return.

Location is excellent! Of course the town Grasmere is absolutely beautiful and everything is close enough to travel by walk. The reception lady was amazing, very cooperative and took good care of us for all the time. Definitely worth to stay at the same place again!

We stayed here for one night as part of our Coast to Coast walk.The room was so spacious with super comfortable bed. Bathroom was also huge with a well sized spa bath. Nice little touches like hot chocolate and biscuits as part of the complimentary tea/coffee in the room. Staff were so friendly. Breakfast buffet was exceptional, with organic and locally sourced ingredients Would have loved to stay an extra night.
