The owners were very kind, accommodating, and hospitable. They truly cared about the comfort of my stay, so if there would be any problem, they wouldn't have any problem taking care of it. The room was spotless, and quiet, with a kettle and some tea and coffee. The bed was perfect for one person to lie comfortably across the mattress. It's also comfortable for two people as well. The owner brought breakfast into the room (either hot (all English) or cold (cereal, toast, tea, yogurt)) which was very nice and surprising, because I have never had breakfast brought right into my room :) The building and the room were incredibly beautiful, with a scent of the old English atmosphere I read about in books/saw it on TV (Midsomer Murders came into my mind - minus the murders of course :) ). It was not a cold or sterile environment I always saw at uniform hotels. It was enriched with the typical York-ish atmosphere I learnt to love during my stay. I definitely reccommend this accommodation.

    Nothing - Exellent.

Heidi & Gregg were excellent hosts. They attended to all my needs. Parking was made available for me. The room and bed were spacious and comfortable. The guest house’s location is ideally situated and is only a short distance from the city centre. The breakfast was fantastic ( with delicious home made plum jam included), with the option of the meal being served in the room which is great. A very enjoyable stay, I would definitely book a room at the Moorgarth again in the future. Wait, I already have for a return visit in a weeks time!

Being just out of the city center, it was quiet of people noise, but there was a little noise from the road if you had the window open. I was a little caught off-guard that it was a cash or debit-only place.

This was a charming, homey, comfortable place run by thoughtful people. There were several details I appreciated: a small table to set things down and organize, the kettle in the room to have a cup of tea before venturing out for the day, good light-blocking curtains for the early summer light, and that there was a little table in the bathroom which was very helpful due to the limited space on the sink for toiletries. Wifi and TV worked great. Private bathroom was nice and clean.

Greg was a lovely host. Very friendly and helpful in all interactions. He was responsive to messages and suggested a lovely little pub that was within walking distance for dinner. The room was spacious, incredibly clean, and the bed was super, super comfortable with beautiful linen. I had some wet clothing, which he happily helped me to get dry, and he was more than happy to give advice about the local area. This is definitely a great place to stay!

It is a room in a bed and breakfast, so you can hear others in their rooms, but I was expecting this, so it didn’t put a damper on anything.

The location is ideal - 15 minute walk from the centre of York! The staff are also incredibly friendly.

The towels were very uncomfortable, very hard, almost impossible to wipe in them. Window to the street - quite noisy.

The location is great, close to the city centre. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming and helpful. TV, wifi working well.

The room was comfy and had everything I needed - all the things that are often lacking in a hotel room - table, chairs, mirrors, a mug not a tiny cup, choice of teas and coffee. Heidi was lovely and welcoming - it really felt like a home from home rather than an impersonal space.

The shower temperature varied a little, I had to wait for a moment for the water to warm up again before I could rinse off my shampoo. The heating seemed to be off during the day, which is fine, but it would have been nice if it had been turned on a little earlier in the evening, especially as it was a miserably rainy day. The wool blanket helped, though!

The room was very cute and clean and the bed was comfy. The little cushion saying "welcome" was an adorable touch. I loved that they provided a woolly blanket for extra comfort. :) I was out and about for most of my stay, so I only saw the hosts at check-in and check-out, but they were very friendly. A couple of nice cafes nearby.
