Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBackground music in dining room. Pillows were rather too firm.
Car park in front of hotel. Sea view. Fridge in bedroom (we store milk, for tea, and our own gin and tonic).

United KingdomFor the price some areas very dated. Room was very hot but luckily a fan was provided. Bar staff in bar areas very slow to notice you needed serving. Slow to clear up tables of glasses both inside and outside.
Reception staff friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was exceptional. Plenty of choice in both the cold and cooked breakfasts. Staff serving breakfast friendly and helpful. Car parking on site. Within walking distance to all amenities. Very close to sea so lovely views.

United KingdomMaybe a space with entertainment on of an evening.
I'm a support worker for Marcia Binns who the booking was for, she was in need of some respite after having a difficult time with her health recently. The hotel was a relaxing place for her. Marcia doesn't eat very much but her appetite improved and ate a hearty breakfast each day. One evening Marcia wanted rice and korma but with the lack of Indian restaurants to eat in was disappointed that we couldn't get one, the receptionist over heard us talking about this and informed us that after speaking to chef, Marcia had her rice and curry sauce the very next evening. Thanks to the whole team making Marcia a happy lady.

United KingdomThe food was generally fine but is more pub food than fine dining.
Fantastic Art Deco hotel on Morecambe promenade. The balcony rooms have amazing views of Morecambe Bay. Very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice breakfast and good cocktail menu in the bar.

United KingdomWe would have preferred table service for our evening meal. Rather than ordering at the bar.
Easy free parking. Great room with great sea views. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our dinner with a lovely view of the sea and breakfast was very freshly made.

United KingdomThe coffee at breakfast was rather watery. The sausage wasn't great. Although on balance the breakfast was fine, we do like a strong coffee in the morning!
Very dog friendly, and the view is spectacular. The room was very comfortable and of course we love the decor, though the outside could have done with a lick of paint. The staff were nice; there's a warm, friendly atmosphere.

United KingdomFor an exceptional hotel the dining was a great let down. Most of the guests were elderly and some could scarcely walk yet expected to go up to the bar to order. Young or old the dining experience was deplorable. The Midland is a beautiful hotel not a pub. It is not the standard expected of a 4 star hotel which formerly prevailed.
Poor quality croissants, poor choice of jams and weak coffee, otherwise excellent

United KingdomSad to say that it needs a lot of tweaks here there and everywhere. The building has always been bright white from the outside and it now looks yellowish and in need of some rendering in places. There are parts of the interior that look like they have been repaired but not to a good standard or just need to be repaired. Small things like not having salt pots on the table filled (on any surrounding table either) or not knowing anything about the beers being served, Sunday breakfast buffet not having plates or saucers out, coffee not topped up. Things like this, and I know it’s nit picking but to make this hotel the amazing experience it deserves to be, means being on top of the little things. Air conditioning or fans in the room when it’s sunny is really needed. It was hot in there. Also curtains that fully block out the sun in the rooms would be so much better. The room we stayed in, the curtains could have done to be an inch longer. All feedback for the benefit of the hotel to enable to fix and make it perfect in future.
The location on the promenade was great. The view from the restaurant superb. There are so many great features in this historic and unique hotel that just won’t be replicated anywhere else. The staff were all very polite and helpful. Despite what I mention in the things I don’t like, I really enjoyed the stay. The sunsets in the evening and watching the people enjoying the promenade during the day was something really special and at times I felt like I was abroad I was so relaxed.

United KingdomThe new owner is "a pubs with rooms" group. The great Midland Hotel doesn't seem to fit well with their property portfolio. They seem to think it is quite ok to expect their high class guests to get up from their seaview tables in the restaurant, and go to the bar to order their meals, as if they were in a very average pub. It is far from ok! A complaint to the group's CEO did not receive the courtesy of a reply.

United KingdomWe really enjoyed our stay at the Midland Hotel, Morecambe. The only thing we could say is that the food didn't quite come up to the standard of luxury set by the rest of the hotel. It was good but missing an edge that you might expect.
We loved the quirkiness of the Art Deco hotel room and the views across the bay were amazing especially as we got a sunset the night we stayed. The staff were friendly and helpful and willing to go above and beyond for us. Thank you 😊
