The number of stairs to be negotiated to get to the room.

The quirkiness and maze-like arrangent of rooms in this very old property.

One had to wait some time to order and water was not immediately available. One small suggestion to the kitchen staff is to use separate cutting boards so that the fruit Sallad in the morning do not taste of onion.

The unique character of the place and the friendly staff. The food was excellent.

That we had to go home haha

The hotel was fantastic! From the moment we arrived we were treated by friendly staff. We were very looked after & made to feel at home. The hotel had so much history we really enjoyed it especially a tour of the rooms & cellar. The food was delicious. The room super clean but our favourite thing was how lovely the staff were!

Parking can be a bit of a lottery with only 18 spaces but there are two other carparks (adequate and safe) only a few mins walk away so it's not really a problem. Apart from that I really can't think of anything to say however, if I am going to ultra critical we didn't see a ghost (tongue in cheek comment)

An absolutely stunning hotel, it really is becoming our favourite place to stay. It's steeped in history with the cellars dating back to the 11th century. Tons of character, staff very friendly and helpful, meals a delight, we can't really fault it. Rye its self is very pretty with plenty of places to eat and drink and lots of shopping (some quite quirky / fun shops) to while away a morning or afternoon. Bar (picture appended) and restaurant, and come to that the whole building were charming.

    The decor is rather dated

This is a fascinating old inn, dating back to 1420. There’s a great bar with a huge inglenook fireplace. The building is a veritable warren of rooms landings. Very quirky.

As a result of its age it was creaky. We were above the restaurant and could hear people downstairs.

Beautiful building, all the staff are very proud of their work, all well dressed and looking very smart, very polite and friendly. Very old building with many original features.
