Rooms looking a little tired and bleak. Not the grand hotel we used to come to 40+ years ago when we were local.

Staff were excellent, room was clean and well prepared and the beds were comfortable. Believe James was responsible for the room.

Still needs updating but good to see things improving . Nice to see food available and people dining in the room upstairs. The bedroom allocated had issues with damp which may have been rectified but still left a damp odor.Evidence looked like a replastered section of the wall directly outside the room. I was too tired to request a room change as I had arrived late. The stairs to the pool are very steep and the lift was out of action.There is a stair lift.

There were some dated aspects to the bathroom including a broken loo lid. Large cobweb on the bedroom ceiling and pull-out desk could have been cleaner.

Really spacious room which was a lovely surprise and much appreciated. Very comfortable bed and a great night's sleep.

On Saturday evening we were trying to get a meal for our child so we could feed her and put her to bed, and we’re pushed from pillar to post between bar and restaurant, telling us they could not serve us as they were busy with a party. When the meal arrived I was not convinced the fish tasted very fresh. So child ended up only eating the chips and peas. I myself had a bad stomach afterwards, so my suspicions were right. This upset us because it was our last night and we had a very nice stay apart from that.

Good sized room, lovely spa facilities and pool, nice bar area. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast with good variety of choices.

Paint peeling of the bath in Room 336, which we reported to receptionist, who had only recently started. We told her we did not want to move room as had already unpacked. Basically a 3 star bath in an otherwise 4 star hotel. On leaving I asked what was the difference to have a Privileges Room and was told that was £20 extra per night. Apparently they had been refurbished. Location, pool and spa would favour a return to this hotel next time we visit family but just disappointed with the bath. Paid £161 per night.

Good selection of food at breakfast. Loved the pancake maker.

A general air of tattiness. Clean but some areas needing attention. Room service on the second day took two hours to arrive as apparently the system crashed-it's all done online. Some TV channels didn't work on the freeview set.

Swimming Pool area was lovely clean and well maintained. Good location. Spa was pleasant and treatments booked were on time and relaxing. Pets welcome was a big bonus as i usually travel with my dog. Room was clean and quiet.

We booked a family deluxe room, which looked nice on the photos. We did add a dog to our booking but the standard of our room was much lower. I wish I had been informed. The room was grungy and near the kitchen which the extractor (I presume) was running all day and night. The light in the bathroom was flickering badly. The hot water is orange from the water tank I presume. But still not pleasant. Windows need to be looked at for security, some are restricted not to open wide but others are completely free so a child (considering it’s a family room) could fall out. Food is average

The breakfast had an excellent choice of hot and cold food, but the hot food was only warm.

The location was close to Sheffield centre. All the staff were helpful. The room was comfortable with two chairs.

We stayed in room 306 and the bathroom ceiling was flaking and floor trims were rotten also as we came in through the door of the room the ceiling was soiled from water damage, one of the lights was surrounded by water damage on the ceiling. This bathroom lets the room and the hotel down.

Seems to be a single lift.. No fridge within the room.. Some rooms are harder to access luckily we were able to move, and the heating within room wasn’t the best and the corridors can be alittle noisy.

The room had not been cleaned properly before our stay. There were fake rose petals under and over the furniture left from previous guests. But, the bed and bathroom were clean.

You have to pay for parking there unless you're staying at the hotel. I didn't realise this and paid for parking separately. They need to make sure that this is all in the description when you book or have some signage outside in the parking area to inform you of this. TV didn't work.

Clearly understaffed at a time when Top World snooker players are staying... People wanted to spend money and couldn't at the bar during the day without a long wait and card machines not working... I would still go back though.

Opening hours of pool were short. Not clear about timings for child free time. Decor a bit run down. Corridor to our room had a mouldy smell - big patch of mould on the wall of the corridor was partly repaired.
