On both afternoons of our stay the reception was left unmanned with a sign saying back soon. I could find no members of staff in entire hotel so could not access swimming pool .

The hotel is dated, which is fine and what I was expecting. However, the maintenance wasn't great. Lights flickering in the hallway, one of the taps in our sink wouldn't open/drain. Bed was lumpy. No thermostat in the room. Chairs/carpet in the restaurant need replacing. Nothing that ruined our trip though.

The staff were exceptional and the location was perfect for our trip to the zoo. My son loved the pool (note the Jacuzzi is permanently closed/boarded up). Room was very large and comfy and quiet. Staff make the hotel. For the price it was good.

A few minor issues with our room but didn’t affect our stay. Just either not fixed or mentioned by previous guest Broken light hanging off the wall 1 double socket didn’t work

The location is wonderful and directly next to the zoo. The food on the bar menu was lovely the other menu quite fancy.

The hotel is set out to appear to be in a rainforest. It was nice to look out in to the gardens from all rooms.

There was no vegan milk at breakfast and the room could do with some updates. Would prefer a smart TV so we could watch netflix. Close to nature = spider in the room.

The bed was a bit uncomfortable the foot of the bed seemed higher than the head. The room was a bit dated and a funny smell in hotel. Shower was very slow.

The bedroom decor was shabby and the furniture had an inconvenient layout. The vent option on the sliding door didn’t work but there were no staff on duty at night to fix it. For the price we would have expected a better standard of accommodation.

The beds were really comfortable. The staff were welcoming. The buffet breakfast was tasty.

We were informed only an hour before we arrived that the pool was out of action. When we arrived we asked why, it's not the hotels fault at all but this was part of our stay to use the pool. The receptionist was quite miserable and I was surprised she didnt offer a small discount or seem sorry the pool was not working. She seemed almost not to care. I have stayed here several times when my children were growing up and we were a bit disappointed.

The breakfast was good with a good choice. Rooms were comfortable. Nice surroundings

The sink was cracked! The shower curtain shorter than the bath, so water everywhere after showering!

A lovely size corner room upstairs. A lovey size bed and was very comfortable. The breakfast was nice but could of been a bit warmer.

I travel on my own and cost of room for one is high. Packages for families and couples but no packages for solo travellers.

Fittings in shower room hanging off paint needs repainting doors need redoing Changing rooms in pool area need updating , pool sides need cleaning restaurant floor stained on carpets and some chairs falling apart

The swimming pool changing room was very dirty and the towels they provide desperately need replacing as very tired and itchy.

Pool was lovely, had it to ourselves for two hours upon our arrival.

It’s looking very shabby now. Plug sockets didn’t work. Cracks In sinks. Curtains not fitting properly.

Staff were lovely very accommodating. Food was fabulous definitely better than I thought it would be.

Looking and feeling very tired. Rooms corridors, main entrance need a refresh. Menu very basic, limited, pricey, No salad ?. So overall poor in comparison to like for like price wise. I chose because of location thinking it would be nice but disappointing. Chilworth manor and other hotels around but far superior in quality.

Lovely setting and would of been lovely 25odd years ago when built.
