Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSome little improvements needed. Our room had blackout blinds that didn’t work fully. Curtains would be a nice touch and make the room cosier. The mattress was very firm so a topper could be an option. Hotel is up a hill which we were aware of so not suitable if you have mobility problems.
Room was a good size. Basic but very clean. Bathroom shower amazing. Breakfast was very good. The waitresses and reception staff are a credit to the hotel. Nothing not to like for a budget hotel and the price

United KingdomThe walk up the hill with my luggage (my fault, I do speak some French so should have spotted that there was a clue in the area being called Hauteville!)
A nice breakfast especially the Guernsey yoghurt Bigger room than expected (thanks!) with a pleasant view across the town

United KingdomThe TV could be a bit larger. The water supply to the sink was lukewarm or lukewarm from both taps. The toaster took too long and there always seemed to be a queue or people gave up and took bread instead.
The bed was comfortable. There were more than enough drawers for storage, the shower was large enough and great once it got going past the cold water. The breakfasts were good and I especially liked the prunes and thick yoghurt. The staff were very helpful and supplied jugs of cold water when asked.

Lovely clean modern accommodation, close to town but up hill beware of a climb, not too bad but should be mentioned. Great style n decor throughout. I left early so cannot comment on breakfast but they did offer me a grab bag breakfast which I though was a nice touch. Would def stay again though and great price too.

United KingdomThe reception didn’t open until 3pm, therefore we couldn’t speak to anyone when we arrived. There was very limited parking which was often used by a local.
Thé breakfast was excellent and very quick service. There was a good range of options for breakfast and catered for everyone. The manager was very polite and hospitable.

United KingdomThe WiFi in our room was totally useless, doesn't connect at all across 2 different phones and a 2 different tablets, even trying to connect one device at a time. We were on the top floor so I think they just need more WiFi repeaters on the upper floors. There was some kind of equipment on the roof that kept making a intermittent growling like sound. It wasn't super loud but it was annoying, but you got used to it eventually. One of the pillows really stank of Fish for some reason, we probably could of asked for a different one but my partner only sleeps with one pillow, so we just didn't use it. On our first night the radiator in our bathroom kept emitting what can only be described as a really really loud wet farting sound. We tried to go ask staff about it, but they had already left for the day. We managed to figure out the Radiator just needed bleeding and sorted that ourselves. However the radiator kept getting slightly warm despite having the heat valve shut, so I suspect the whole heating system probably needs checking. None of these are massive issues, especially considering the low price for the room, but they were annoying nerveless, especially the lack of WiFi. The biggest issue though wasn't really the hotels fault, but is one you should be aware of. The hill the hotel is on. You'll have seen other reviews mention it, but I want to clarify: The hill is insanely steep, to the point of being almost unwalkable. It's about a 20% incline in some places. I know Google Maps says it's a "mild slope", but Google is very wrong (they don't have good data for Guernsey). There is no way to get from anywhere to the hotel without having to walk up that hill. There are no benches to rest on on the way and the pavement is tiny. It will take you about 15 to 20 minutes to climb the hill and you will be totally exhausted by the end of it.
The bed was super comfortable, and came with two good sized pillows. The furniture and room was modern, clean and in good condition. Shower in the bathroom had amazing water pressure and always had plenty of hot water. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very tasty but a bit on the small side, I had to fill up on toast alot. The room was very reasonably priced though.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to utilise the outside space as there are fabulous views. There was overflow leak to rear which could be heard all night!
Clean and simple, courteous staff and location was nice. We were on second floor which allowed you to see over town an to the sea whilst sat on the loo; exceptional!

United KingdomVery noisy footfall above sounded like a baby elephant. Occasional slamming of doors. Would have liked some separate items of fruit such as bananas. No sweetener just sugar cubes. Limited TV channels. Dated bathroom with avocado suite.
Nice breakfast. Perfectly poached eggs. Fresh fruit salad each morning with local yoghurt. Good sized bedroom with dressing table and armchair.

United KingdomThis was our second 1 night stay. THis time our room was ground floor but at the front of the building with window opening directly onto the pavement, hence some street noise and also felt less secure. Room very small. Not really room for the 2 armchairs as well as wardrobe and chest of drawers. Sink in room, separate to tiny toilet/shower room, which had a door which wouldn't close properly. Had to keep moving 1 of chairs to get into very small toilet/shower cubicle (with curtain). Toilet/ shower, no hanging space for towels , clean towels were placed on toilet cistern which isn't good and shower overspilled onto floor. I did not feel this room was good value at over £100. It was tolerable for 1 night only.
it was clean, convenient and breakfast was good.

United KingdomBathroom fittings a bit dated and enamel on bath needed re coating. Breakfast good, but portions small (eg: only 1 rasher bacon, only 1 egg even though i declined beans, sausage etc. I felt the price of over £100 for the room was high.
Room was comfortable and airy, groundfloor, and quiet. It was larger than expected as it was a family room.

United KingdomThere was a power outage on the first morning - weird it was only half the hotel. Noisy fan in the shower. Creaky floor boards. Other guests who seemed to imitate elephants stomping up/down the stairs and generally clattering about. About 20mins walk from the ferry terminal and 15mins from town - hard going uphill, but gravity is your friend on the way down...
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was spotlessly clean. Splendid shower.
