Room allocation on 2nd floor. The restaurant finished serving quite early. There was a function taking place in the restaurant for lunch so I had to eat in the bar area, also the menu was incorrect as they have incorrectly printed dietary restrictions on the menu, this is a big concern to me. I would have preferred a room on a higher floor as I am not used to sleeping on a main road, but I did not have trouble getting to sleep.

The location of the hotel was perfect as opposite the station. Nice spacious room and good decor. Nice helpful chambermaids.

Although the food was acceptable, I was expecting slightly better quality and value. The dinner, bed and breakfast rate only offers 2 courses for dinner, when 3 are available for a small cost of a starter or dessert for those with an appetite. Steak has an additional surcharge, which is not worth paying for IMHO, as the meat was 'just OK' but not worth £35. The main restaurant was booked with a function, so was only available to guests from 8.30 p.m. onwards, which was disappointing. I chose to have room service instead, as I didn't want to eat at the bar, which was offered. Next morning, breakfast was reasonable, but very self service apart from the order of a main plate, e.g. full English or Eggs Benedict, etc. Overall, I felt underwhelmed by the dining experience, which used to be the highlight of the Malmaison brand that I experienced many times across the country in the past. I guess times and business models change.

Spacious and comfortable room with great amenities. Due to the cold weather, additional heating had been provided in the room, which was a nice touch. Well situated hotel for public transport links via train, bus and taxis. Staff were friendly and everything about my room was more than satisfactory.

Me and my partner travelled to stay at this hotel, when leaving we asked if they could hold our bags while we went to get some food before our train home, which the staff rudely refused as we were no longer residents. This completely changed our opinion on the stay, for the money we paid, why can we not?!!! Even travelodge and other budget hotels do this, but after over £150 for one night we can’t?!!! I am disgusted.

The rooms felt luxurious and came with plenty of facilities

Room was in basement. Although there were 2 windows, in daylight it was a dark room. Shower was just an attachment in the bath. No mini bar or fridhe

Large room. Tasteful decoration. Large bathroom. Nespresso and free bottled water. Excellent breakfast freshly cooked.

    nothing to not like

The hotel is located right next to the train station, easy access and easy local car parking, main station Long Stay car park........rooms were pleasant, but a little tired.....everything worked fine.......breakfast was excellent......try and get it included in your room rate......but like the idea of a breakfast buffet for cold items and cooked breakfast ala cart....Excellent idea to avoid food wastage and maintain quality!

The room was a little dark but we were out most of the day so it wasn't much of an issue. The shower was also just a little hot for my liking and was difficult to cool down but it was still usable and a lovely large bathroom.

Lovely hotel in a really great location. Less than a 5 minute walk to the train station and probably less than 10 minutes into the main high street. All the staff were very friendly and we were also able to leave our luggage after we checked out while we went for a wander into town. We had a room at the front of the hotel, but it was lovely and quiet at night, not that it was difficult to fall asleep in the super comfy cloud like bed! The train station also had a little M&S food shop for any last minute snacks and nibbles. Overall we would stay here again.

Nothing - I wasn't really there long enough to form a comprehensive opinion. What I experienced was great.

I needed to attend a team dinner so this was central to the town, plus I had an early train out of Reading so this was perfect location too.

The 2 bathroom sinks were clogged since we arrived and would drain slowly, leaving debris/residue behind.

The Club deluxe room was very comfortable and spacious. The close location to the railway was very convenient.

Veggie breakfast was lovely as were the staff team in the dining area and bar - as always to be fair to them. Polite, well mannered, great customer service skills and go above and beyond.

Apparent issue with the heating during our stay meant the dining room was very cold, to the point of discomfort during our dinner. Confusion between dining room wait staff as to what was/wasn’t included in our booked package meant bill was unexpectedly high at check out. This was addressed by reception but would have preferred not to have the matter arise.

Central location, over the road from the station. Attractive exterior. Deluxe club room was very spacious with comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Dining room and other spaces are stylishly decorated. Dinner and breakfast well presented and tasty.

The noise. I had requested at booking a quiet room. A message returned by the hotel said they could not deal with my request until arrival. I again requested a quiet room on booking in. My room faced the rail station and a busy road. On leaving I was asked if I had enjoyed my stay, I said that I had been awoken at 4:00A.M. By noise from outside. The response was a clearly well rehearsed, “ this is a hotel in the centre of town and we cannot be responsible for noise from outside”. I had observed that three sides of this square building faced quieter aspects. There were cracked tiles in the bath room and other signs of fatigue to the fitments. In fairness this did not impact my stay but might be important to some visitors. I feel the price of rooms was appropriate . I found the convoluted corridors made finding my room a little difficult. It also cost almost £5:00 for a Americano with service. I thought this was ex expensive.

Location. Close to rail station and local bus stops. The rooms had clearly been designed to a high standard., although now showed signs of wear. Tea making facilities, iron, hair dryer etc provided. I liked the look of the external building, apparently the oldest railway hotel?

No room cleaning on Sat so ran low on toilet paper, no fresh towels and no fresh water. Breakfast is over priced. No loyalty programme.

Location of hotel is great. Staff are brilliant especially Matt in the restaurant. Room was nice but a bit annoying not having the room cleaned on Sat as no fresh towels, ran low on toilet paper and no fresh bottled water. Fixed price evening meal very good value and food good but breakfast over priced so we ate out.
