Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThat they said they can't take cash at the restaurants but actually they did when asked. Very annoying as cash is still money and too many places refusing it. I also noticed a cheeky service charge at the bar for 2 drinks, which seemed excessive for just pouring 2 drinks at the bar, we weren't seated. Cola mixer £4.50! Too expensive. I feel for the room rate per night, which is definitely the upper end of the market, that the customer service across the whole hotel was not quite on par, I think making guests feel special on arrival and attended too is part of a hotel experience at this price point, and although everyone was pleasant and swift, a more high end service would be fitting and wouldn't cost anything to provide.
Beautiful mansion and grounds. Lovely big room, huge bathroom with jacuzzi bath, nice spa, staff can fetch you back and forth to the spa/ restaurants area back to the mansion via car/ golf caddy, lovely grand breakfast room in the mansion which for us was what we went for and did not disappoint, and enjoyed seeing peacock roaming around the grounds. The whole place is immaculately clean and very well maintained.

United KingdomAgain the TV in this different room didn’t work, twice we had maintenance come to have a look and eventually started working but an hour later it went off. Luckily is was late at night so we didn’t bother to call down. Again the hotel just need a technology overhaul as this is on 2 separate occasions TVs in 2 different rooms just don’t work. It’s just something you like to have on in the background while getting ready or when you get back to the room after a meal with a drink.
After staying the night before we fly and the air con not working, we upgraded our room to a country house suite from the parkland suite, this room was a lot bigger and the air con worked perfectly. Also in the same building as the Brasserie. Adams brasserie again was tasty food, service really good.

United KingdomUnfortunately the air con didn’t work in our room, it was the hottest day of the year so was overly hot for the time of year but the air con should have been working. After maintenance tried to fix it at 930pm, we were told it couldn’t be fixed and no other rooms available. After complaining at the reception another room was found available, it didn’t have air con but 2 big fans were placed next to the bed. Staff dealt with promptly and we managed s good nights sleep before an early flight. Just unfortunate. Also the Tv kept going off every minute or so, we just left it due to needing to be up early. The whole hotel needs a technology upgrade I think. It is an old building but spending some money it can be made a bit more upto modern standards for guests.
Close to Luton airport due to flying the next morning. Was able to park the car for the week at a daily cost with us staying the night on our return also. Adams brasserie, food was tasty and good atmosphere sat outside.

United KingdomWe came here as it was "dog friendly" and while dogs are allowed to stay, the rest of the hotel is not really set up for it. We were given a ground floor room that opened onto a courtyard so that was really handy. But there's nowhere inside to eat for example, you have to go to the brasserie restaurant and sit outside. There were only a few drops of rain thankfully but it's not ideal. When it came to breakfast thankfully it was cool enough that the dog could stay in the car while we ate. I think you should probably either rethink the options for those visiting with dogs and consider what they are supposed to do in all scenarios, or maybe don't offer it out as a dog friendly venue.
Amazing setting with lots of history, beautiful grounds, some amazing spaces. Lovely breakfast.

United KingdomCharged the full amount for our stay plus an extra £200 on check in! Don't mind the price of our stay being taken, I took exception to the £200, which represented anticipated charges; meals & drinks. I wasn't asked, they took! I asked for it to be immediately put back into my account.
