Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomClearly the neighbours have issues with it being used as a holiday let and can be antagonistic. The kitchen is small, but well appointed, the issue is that the cutlery and crockery don't fit in the compact dish washer. I wouldn't recommend the house to anyone with movement limitations as the stairs are very tight and steep. manoeuvring bags up and down them was a struggle.
The house was compact, but very comfortable. The bed is a delight to sleep in, it is the best nights sleep I've had whilst staying away and once the heaters had chance to work, the house was very warm. (There are hot water bottles in the kitchen). The shower was perfect and the bath big enough to relax in. Loved the library and I didn't need the TV. All in all, a much better place to stay than a hotel.

United KingdomThe stairs. They are very steep and difficult to get up and down. Taking suitcases up was challenging. Even my dog was scared of using them..
Location. Clean. We'll equipped.. the cottage is great for younger people..as a base to explore the area. And/ or just to chill out away from a city life. Garden and summer house we're lovely in the sunshine

United KingdomWe did think the cottage needed a deeper clean. We stripped down the kitchen draining rack ourselves as it had mould, easy to take apart, superficially looked clean but muck was accumulating. When I bent down to plug my hairdryer in the study I put my face into cobwebs. I do like spiders, they keep the flies away, but that wasn’t a welcome encounter! These are small comments, it’s gorgeous there, really!
We loved the quiet location, such a pretty traditional cottage. The books were a marvellous selection, both downstairs and in the little upstairs study. Although the stairs were very steep they were easy to manage using the rope on the wall, and coming down backwards was a great tip. We didn’t need to use the kitchen much as after breakfast we were out but appreciated all the facilities provided. The garden and summer house were lovely too. The bed was so comfortable. We stayed four nights, and would definitely stay again if visiting that area.

United KingdomOddly couldn’t find any scissors which would have been handy and more regular drinking glasses would also have been nice. I don’t mind soda or orange juice in a wine glass but my husband isn’t that fancy
Although a bit hard to find, once we did were very happy with the cozy and quirky cottage. The summer house was an added bonus and a brilliant place for coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening with friends.

United KingdomThe cottage is adequate for a couple of nights, but compared to many that we have rented it is sparsely equipped. There were no teaspoons (not the end of the world!). The sofa is extremely uncomfortable although it suited the room. We arrived to a myriad of cobwebs and floor fluff indicating that it hadn't been cleaned for our arrival. The stairs!! We looked at them aghast when we first arrived, but had mastered the knack by the end of our stay. I do feel they should be mentioned in the cottage description as older, less stabilised folk might struggle and find them dangerous. The quirkiness of the property helps you to forgive the errors on the owners part and it truly is a 'get away from the world' bolthole.
Cosy, quirky cottage with an extremely comfortable bed. The hamlet is peaceful and picturesque with lots of fabulous dog walks on the designated footpaths around the cottage. Half an hour to the coast and 10 minutes to shops for your supplies (no welcome pack or village amenities so remember to bring everything with you).

United KingdomIt's not large, there isn't a lot of headroom and the stairs are steep and narrow. It was all as described and what we expected, so we've certainly no complaints, but 2 of us and a dog couldn't realistically stay for longer than 3 nights - other people might be fine for longer though.
Very well equipped clean cottage in a good location for our trip. Kitchen seemed to have everything despite being a tiny space, including all the essentials you wouldn't want to pack for a couple of nights away. Great selection of books, including useful walking maps for the area. Would happily stay again for a 2-3 night break.

United KingdomThe cottage was expensive for the standard of accommodation in my experience, as a seasoned traveller. As others have said, the sofa was ok but not the most comfortable. The bathroom was, in our view, a little tired and could do with refurbishment. The stairs, as others have said, are very narrow/steep and would not suit anyone with any kind of mobility problems or even someone of a larger build. Great care has to be taken when going up or down stairs. Cleaning was not as good as we would have liked - with dust/dirt in the bedside cabinet drawers and on some surfaces including skirting boards in the bathroom, some floors and elsewhere in the cottage. Taps/shower screen etc needed finishing off with a dry cloth to remove watermarks. The washing up bowl in the kitchen was particularly grubby. Whilst the kitchen was reasonably well equipped - with nice crockery, plenty of cutlery, a good cooker and a microwave - we could have done with a baking tray and a potato peeler. There was no welcome pack as such, just some bits left from previous guests - which was surprising given the price we had paid and being greeted with milk/bread etc would have been helpful
Library Cottage is a very small, rustic property in a quiet village not far from Woodbridge. The location is very quiet and restful. Parking by the side of the property was easy. Access via a code to obtain the keys from a security box was straightforward. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped; the heating worked well; the wi-fi and TV were good; the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot and powerful enough. There is a good farm shop/cafe on the A12 doing excellent breakfasts just 12-14 minutes walk away. Overall, the cottage suited and met our needs and provided a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
