Although it was summer it got a bit chilly at night. Heating was off with no means of adjustment.

Being pet friendly was great with the location ideal for plenty of walking. Booked for half board with good food and service. Room was spacious, bath and shower were great.

The restaurant staff were poor in every way. They paid more attention to each other than the customers. They were unprofessional sloppily dressed and have no clue how to serve customers. It was a total let down. I have been coming to this hotel for dinner for 18 years. It uses to be professional and the serving staff were amazing. Not any longer. It's rinky dink. We were sat for dinner and the menus were just left on the edge of the table rather than handed out individually. Next, I asked for a straw. It was laid on the table, no cocktail napkin, didn't hand it to me... ridiculous. I complimented the bar manager for his suit jacket being on as he hadn't worn it the entire time. When he did, I complimented on how nice he looked. The other servers standing around him giggled and made fun of the comment as I walked away. Holy crap... so unprofessional... this I could get at McDonald's. The rooms need issues and the outside concrete stairs need repaired as they are falling apart and the building needs painted, badly. Why Leonardo took this over and never put money into it is beyond me. This is a diamond in the rough, very rough. Make this into the gem it used to be!

The reception staff and the housekeeper for room 416 were amazing. Tracey and Claire did everything right. Superb. The main hotel is classic country Scottish motif, though a little tired. The location is amazing as are the grounds. It's so peaceful and lovely.

A minor gripe was the inability to get sub-titles on the TV as there was only a 'generic' magic wand rather than the one supplied with the TV.

The staff were uniformly friendly and efficient. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was excellent - 'old' fashioned taps allowing a good purchase, a solid plug with firm chain fitting and a very easy to undestand shower! The bed was exceptionally comfortable and all of the windows could be opened to some degree compensating for the lack of air conditioning on a warm night. Dinner was very good and well-priced; a nice choice of dishes. Breakfast was also good although Scottish sausage would have been nice rather than links. The room for the wedding reception we attended was well suited and the food for a large party of 70+ excellent.

Where we were seated for evening meal and breakfast, staff said you need to be here away from other guests, felt we were naughty children, not exactly dog friendly as stated in the info when we booked. Felt like 3nd class citizens because we had a dog with us.

We were in an annexe as we had a dog, lighting was poor, and rooms need updating. But

Bath/shower did not have any anti-slip precautions, only a small sign saying to ask for a mat from Reception. Bit late by the time you're undressed and stood in the bath. Dining room was let down by cheap paper napkins.

Room was spacious and comfortable, with lovely views across farmland. The grounds were attractive for strolling around. Choice of dishes at dinner was good and food quality and presentation was very good.

Tried to put us in basically a garden shed (an old tired converted chalet) on arrival, which they claimed was a lodge and was the same classification as the room we booked?! Didn't accept this and asked for a move, if there hadn't been anything available we'd have gone somewhere else, as this was for a special occasion and we had put this in the booking and spoken over the phone where we'd been assured the room would be a nice one with a nice view.

Staff extremely friendly, efficient and helpful. Room we eventually got allocated was excellent except for the bed mattress which was uncomfortable and the room would have benefitted from Air Con. Calm relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel and food/drinks were great albeit the drinks were a bit pricey.

The wait for dinner was very long! Reserved a table for 19:30 and didn’t receive our meals until 20:45. The bathroom floor was dangerous as the tiles were loose.

Traditional building in a lovely location. Dinner was very tasty.

It was very hot when we were there. We had a ground floor room with patio doors but no window to open. We couldn't leave the doors open at night. The receptionist found us a small fan but it didn't work very well.

The hotel was in a beautiful setting with lovely gardens. Room was spacious and on the ground floor as we requested. The breakfast was very good and service was quick. Reception staff very helpful.

The bathroom was fine, although it may soon need an update. Loose hot tap and slightly loose toilet seat. Grout a little stained. Lots of dogs visiting the hotel. We love dogs and loved them being there. Not so good for those not keen on dogs.

The room was spacious and very comfortable. Sofa, chairs and tables a great bonus. Nice powerful shower. Appreciated tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in room. Main dining room beautiful. Food excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Great service.

Hotel smelled musty, old building but needed something done about it, airing or air freshners. Breakfasts were VG , Selection and choices numerious and good quality. Dinners not so good ,limited menu , advertised as fine dining never in a million years, was it fine dining. The food was good quality, what I got , but salads, and vegetables were poor. Same salad every evening. No coldslaws, salsas, or different side dishes like cous cous, potatoes were basic as was most of menu. Desserts were traditional, basic sweets no imagination. As for afternoon tea very disappointing cheap chewy bread, very cold and tasteless fillings, Cakes were basic , tasteless and all similar.

I loved the attention from staff, excellent.
