It took 3 attempts to fine a room which didn’t have mold in the corner of the room or frayed lamps etc. The final room was great however. The hotel need to work quickly to find a solution to improve some of their rooms. I nearly left

The room I ended up in was nice and comfortable. However the are lots of building works going on. The breakfast had lots to choose from and was very tasty.

The room was a little tired and needed decorating but we can see that the hotel exterior is currently being renovated. We thought that £85.00 Per person was a little expensive for 1 night.

The main foyer very nice. Very clean, comfy beds, nice evening meal at reasonable prices. Good central location

Outrageously poor coffee selection in the room. At £299 per night including breakfast for 2, I expected something more than 5 decaf kenko strips and 1 non-decaf. At hotels with a similar price I've had individual coffee filters or coffee bags. Bathroom was distinctly poky. Only 1 lift in the building which doubled as a service lift. I saw several people (including myself) giving up waiting and heading for the stairs.

The room was lovely, although for the price I'd have have expected a fridge and a bigger bathroom. Very comfy bed. Staff were very welcoming.

Covered in scaffolding and wall in room suffering from water damage. It would have been nice if this had been advised prior to booking. Not really what was expected from 4* hotel as a bit tired but the price and renovations perhaps reflected that.

There is a small gym room but you need another access card to it from reception. They won't give it to you unless you are going there rightaway. An excuse to be lazy and skip the exercise. There was dust inside the wardrobe and scaffolding all around the facade of the hotel. This was a pity since it is a historic building. I understand restauration but I don't think I had notice when booking. The room was small, with the double bed taking up most of the space. It would be have been cramped for two of people. Decor is a bit dated. The cleaning staff seem to ignore you.

The location is great, a few minutes walk from the train station, lots of restaurants and bars around, easy access to the Victoria quarter. I was able to walk on foot everywhere. As an old building, the rooms and common areas have impressing high ceilings. The breakfast was good and the reception staff helpful. Bathroom was clean and toiletries provided.

Covered in scaffolding for repairs. Was not made aware of building work when booking or even during our stay. Restricted view and reluctant to leave windows open which is needed when no air conditioning. Needs updating on the interior of the twin room we stayed in. Furniture very dated and worn. The bathroom was grubby, although clean, just tired and very old. Breakfast was ok, not everything on the continental was out on both mornings, the cheese and cold meat selections were no where to be seen. Other selections were not kept topped up. The toaster took a very long time to toast the bread, causing queues.

Location was great for what we needed. Beautiful building. Breakfast was ok.

Another hotel without plug sockets by the bed, having to charge my phone halfway across the room. The bathroom was a little bit rough around the edges. The rough texture in the bath acting as the bath mat was quite grubby and the shower screen leaked onto the floor. But none of this would be enough to put me off, it's clearly quite an old hotel! I did book it quite late in the week due to work timings but ended up paying a lot of money for what it was.

The staff were all lovely, very helpful. I didn't ever have to ask any questions as they gave you all the information you might need. Breakfast was good, but more veggie options without having to ask would be appreciated.
