The hot water is from a heater and doesn’t last too long which is to be expected with a small boiler so this made the shower very cold. The road leading to the property could do with some maintenance on the potholes but we did have a laugh driving down. It may be worth having some essential items on site to purchase milk, eggs, bread, butter etc. as the shop is quite far away.

It was nice that we were trusted to be left alone and go about our evening as we wished. It was clean, peaceful and everything clear on how to operate the cabin. The views from the hot tub were great, the bed was comfy. Some reviews said no phone signal but we managed fine with ours. Ordered takeaway food which was fast and delivered to us.

Property was excellent and clean. Only negative was the track to the accommodation, appreciate it’s a farm track but non farm vehicles use it with the holiday accommodation and it needs to be maintained to improve the potholes. And perhaps some more passing points would help on a single track.

We turned the hot water on the night before and the shower was still freezing cold the next morning, we couldn’t work the tv for love nor money, we did attempt to contact the owner through phone and email but no response. I was a bit thrown back by being asked to strip the beds, do and put away the dishes etc, I know it’s polite to do so however it made it feel less like a break away! & I would recommend anyone visiting to take their own teabags as me or my husband couldn’t drink the tea with the teabags provided.

Unfortunately, the temperature regulator in the shower was not working properly meaning extremely hot scalding water for a few minutes followed by cold water for the remaining time. Significant signage with rules which gave a military feel although do understand some information is necessary. It also would've been useful to know prior to booking that the hot tub was only available for use until 10pm. Otherwise a lovely stay.

The accommodation was very clean, well presented and had a lovely, homely feel. Nice extra touches such as a hammock outside the cabin. Kitchen facilities were excellent and the mattress was particularly comfortable. The location was peaceful and scenic.

Rather than leaving notices on everything, information could be provided in a booklet left in a prominent place for guests to read. Maybe with some local information like a laminated map of the area showing where the paths are to walking routes and landmarks, such as the winking man. The notices seemed a bit militant which was incongruous with the landscape and completely not reflective of staff, who very welcoming and friendly

As all the switches were off in the cabin when we got there, it was hard to follow instruction as it wasn't quite clear what remote did what.. especially the one on the side of the cupboard. The main curtain for the door was missing so we had to Try and make a make shift one so that the light didn't come in and so we had privacy

Loves the bed, it was super comfy We love the location, we've stayed 4 times over 4 years so I think it says it all. The setting is beautiful and secluded The shepherd's hut was really nicely done out

The heating system was a bit noisy which is not a problem in daytime but we switched off for the night.

This is a very nice and authentic place to stay in but worth to note that absolutely self check- in with no interaction with the owner. All instructions are sent in a message after booking and in the accomodation on the wall. The land and hills are beautiful, perfect for hiking. I do recommend.

My only complaints would be the road leading into the property, which really was bad. And the fact we had to be out the hot tub by 10pm - we would have loved to stay in a bit later as it’s so relaxing in the dark :)

We loved the location of this cabin, with its relaxing hot tub, fireplace, and comfy bed! I saw some reviews saying the rules were “too” regimented but I disagree - this is not a hotel and so there are standards you have to uphold without daily housekeeping. This didn’t bother us at all! When we were unsure how to use the fire, staff replied to us on booking.com messages almost immediately.

We booked a last-minute night away, desperately in need of some space to relax and breathe and that is exactly what we found whilst staying in the Lavender Retreat. A couple of hours in the hot tub staring at the stars is just what we needed - thank you.

some confusion with the key lock box code, no one at hand to call or around. I had called the landline numerous times on my journey down (01538300086) 8 times during the course of the day and left messages with no answer. Upon arrival I got a number from the pub and local walkers around corner (personal mobile) which was eventually answered with support at around 7pm.... I had travelled from Newcastle upon Tyne and the journey took 5 hours to get there with 2 hours waiting around to get in which spoiled the trip. I think everything would be perfect with some support (All I needed was the code - couldn't upload booking on email as was not connected to a secure server and the code was not on the email I printed off in case of this).

Loved the retreat, was gorgeous once I got in. It was absolutely beautiful. Fab location. Wish I had stayed longer.
