Old wooden sticking front door that was difficult to open and lock shut. Missing the minor things like brew making items, especially after a long journey, teabags coffee, a carton of milk etc. also, only one toilet roll.

Excellent interior, very nice and comfortable. Lovely bathroom and a fantastic shower. Ideal location.

The sofa was really really REALLY uncomfortable, after a long day of hiking it would be nice to have something you can relax on, it was the type of sofa you’d find in a waiting room! Also the door to enter the property was in desperate need of a quick paint.

Really great location, was super clean and comfortable beds. Lovely family bathroom, kitchen well stocked with everything we needed. Note to bring your own shower gel and sauces for cooking etc. Overall really good value for money.

The only negative we found was that there was a dvd player but nowhere to plug it in without unplugging something else (the WiFi, cameras, heating or TV). Very minor I know, but worth mentioning!

Very fresh, clean property with everything we needed. The children loved the snug upstairs, and being able to let them watch TV in their "lair" was a treat for us too! An easy walk into town and plenty of ideas for walks and take aways in the folders. Thank you for a lovely stay :)

As with other reviews, we did find that while the inside of the cottage was incredibly clean and well looked after, the outside of the cottage could do with a bit of TLC - peeling paint, a broken outdoor step, and an untidy/overgrown front garden. We arrived to a bag of rubbish and bits of rubbish in the back garden which we had to clear before us or the dog were able to go outside. It would have been good to have some blankets available, either in the living room or the bedrooms.

We had a lovely stay at Lakestone Cottage and would recommend it to others. Great location for exploring the Lakes - 5 mins walk to Windermere, 15-20mins walk to Bowness, and a good location for driving out to other spots. A quiet road with plenty of street parking. The house itself was spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay, including lots of cooking utensils and cleaning products, eg dishwasher tablets, cloths, spray. Perfect size for four adults and a small dog! Good sized bedrooms with lots of storage, and it was great to have the porch area to keep boots and coats. It was useful to have the pebbled garden and outdoor furniture, as well as a lovely park with fields and a cafe just around the corner. Really handy washing machine and utility space too.

The cottage really needs some TLC. Paintwork rotting and panelling on the exterior of the house falling apart. On arrival we weren’t greeted with any form of welcome basket - 1x toilet roll between 4 people and almost empty soaps. Just a shame as we’ve stayed with Skye Cottages before and always had a lovely experience. It’s hardly a cheap stay, so would’ve expected more.

I was really disappointed that there were no spare toilet rolls, and no kitchen roll, and no salt & pepper, and no handwash in the bathroom, etc. The property felt bizarrely under-stocked.

We did like the property as a whole but felt that after a full days walking and exploring it wasn’t the most comfortable to return to. Snug and warm but the sofas and beds weren’t very comfy. Possibly something we wouldn’t have usually noticed but after active days we did.

Location was perfect, in the middle of both Bowness and Windermere, both options a 10 minute walk away. Clean on arrival, well equipped kitchen and pantry room. Child and dog friendly.

That we couldn’t stay longer in it

The cottage was beautiful. it was modern yet warm and inviting. The owners thought of everything, from Digital TV to a cleaning pack which included dishwasher tabs. The kitchen was so well equipped I could have been in my own kitchen. The beds were so comfortable, and the walk in shower and free standing bath were gorgeous. A lovely 10 minute walk to Bowness on Windermere. would stay again and highly recommend.
