Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWould have preferred to have been seated somewhere a little quieter than in the main bar for an evening meal we had pre-booked. Pipes etc very very noisy in en-suite and we could hear them from other rooms
lovely room friendly staff and a stunning location, perfect for our onward journey to Lewis and Harris breakfast was lovely too. We had our evening meal here too and though the menu was very limited what I had was lovely

United StatesBeds were too soft, but I'm a picky sleeper.
Included breakfast was fantastic! Several options for hot breakfast, and all customizable, plus plenty of extras like cereal, juice, pastries, toast, etc. Room was nicely decorated, clean, and very comfortable. We had dinner at the lodge restaurant one of the evenings, and the food was amazing.

DenmarkThough we love a good dog-friendly hotel, we were frankly disgusted to find wet dogs right in the middle of the restaurant. And to make matters worse, staff had placed a water bowl right beneath the serving window that has direct access to the kitchen and the plates ready to be served. So when a dog went on to shake off its wet fur right under newly cooked food….. I mean… just no. Staff also petted the different dogs, then proceeded to touch plates and glasses and serve food and drinks without washing their hands. I love dogs. But this was just too unhygienic. Also, we waited over 45 minutes for our food, even though we were told we needed to make the reservation in advance so that they had a chance to manage it all. Finally, the floor we stayed on smelled of old tobacco - and the awful odor was only made worse by the cheap air freshener they had placed in the corner next to our room. All in all we were disappointed - especially since this was one of the more pricy accommodations on our route.
Stunning location! Dog friendly. Spacious room with bathtub.

United KingdomBedroom & en-suite was freshly decorated, new carpet; bed was creaky & too firm for my liking as were pillows. En-suite was functional but dated. Bedroom & en-suite would benefit with being brought up to same standard as public areas

IsraelThe check-in was a bit messy (within the stated check-in hours), and we couldn't find someone from the staff so we just wandered around until we found our rooms (a lot of stairs and doors). Very loud plumbing.
The staff were nice, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was diverse enough for our group. Had dinner there as well which was also quite good.

United Kingdomnot dislike but a couple of suggestions. the dining area tables were tacky. I think this is caused. y the cleaning product affecting the varnish. just a shame the dining area isn’t a little smarter than the actual bar but I am aware staffing can be an issue these days. our room (11). the shower over the bath didn’t permit you to stand and shower - I’ve only recently had a knee replacement and sitting in a bath isn’t possible. pity the bath wasn’t turned around so you could stand and shower. overall comfortable.
beautiful location and lovely old building added to sympathetically.

United KingdomNothing really, l had a ground floor room and the fire doors would bang everytime someone went through them. It is advisable to book a table for an evening meal if you want to eat at the hotel as it gets very busy, not many place in the area to eat.
The location was delightful, close to the very end of a loch. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a couple of small sitting rooms for guests. Breakfast was lovely, bar and bar meals were also very tasty.

What a beautiful location on the Loch side! It felt so tranquil and peaceful and the garden around the property is beautiful in June :) We even saw multiple seals swimming in the loch in the evening... The rooms are modern, clean, very comfy and beautifully decorated. The favorite hotel we stayed in during our road trip this June! Food in the pub downstairs was of very high standard, with more restaurant type of dishes than the typical pub grub! loved the dinner
