There was a great selection for breakfast, buffet and the hot options. Staff were attentive despite the busy morning. The our bed was very comfortable and the tea and coffee station had some lovely biscuits.

We did warn them that there would be about 10 for breakfast at 9am before hand - but they did seem to be completly swamped with that and it took nearly an hour for my cooked breakfast to arrive. Very nice when it did though. We were in room 1, which has a shower with a separate head and a big head above. the shower machanism could have done with a little mainenance as it was quite stiff to operate at first - and the hand held shower head was jammed behind the upright and I couldnt remove it - no biggy really - but a holder for the hand held head would have been useful. It did lok like the shower had been retiled recently - maybe it was work in progress. The tap for the sink was also loose - completely loose - so you had to hold the spout to be able to turn it on - worked though.

The room- although small had everything we needed. We didn’t like being able to hear it every time the people upstairs used the bathroom or toilet. it was a bit noisy late at night with guests coming in late.

I stayed in room 8 , the bed seems a little bit short as my feet hanging out of the edge of the bed . I am not a tall person I would say normal like 176CM. The tall person would be struggling to relax their feet .

unfortunately the bed looked amazing as it was super king but it was 2 single mattresses put together which wasn’t very comfortable when trying to sleep in with a partner

Nothing! From the personal welcome from the owner to the morning coffee by the open fire after checking out, the whole stay was fabulous.

Central but quiet location; gorgeous old coaching inn sympathetically renovated to provide top quality accommodation. Huge, comfortable bed, scrupulously clean room and bathroom and delicious breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff - couldn’t fault it.

Our room was in an adjacent building in a courtyard attached to the pub room, 215. This building is currently undergoing refurbishment. There was so much dust due to the drilling that it set the alarms off, the drilling could be heard just below our room. Our room was small but nice, the bathroom however was not . The shower had black mould in it and the shower itself was unusable because the water temperature was extremely hot and could not be turned down, very dangerous. When I mentioned this at checkout the response was " sorry but that room is in need of refurbishment" so why put us in that room then.

Lovely ambience lovely food and lovely staff. What more do you need on hols. Very comfortable beds and rooms. I needed to change rooms as the ceiling was a bit low for my husband, and there was no problem. Got a roomier room. Thank you.

We had breakfast included and I would strongly recommend to anyone, do not have fried eggs, no yoke in, as they were completely dried out. I did mention this when checking out. Also, we went to the bar at 10.35pm and told last orders had been called. This is a Friday night and not even 11pm! Did not expect this when staying at the hotel.

It is a beautiful old pub hotel, the features are still amazing, very friendly atmisphere. The staff were happy and friendly and it was value for money. Will definitely be going back.

cleaning not up to scratch. someone else’s underwear left in the drawer and very dusty behind bed. breakfast finished early and wasn’t notified due to a wake. originally out in a room next to buildings works and then one above the bar/on the road so noisy despite receptionist saying my new room was quiet.

The firealarm went off soon after 11pm, for few minutes, but log enough yo seriously disturb my night. On checkin l I was initially given the wrong paperwork, named for another guest but it showed much lower charge than I was paying. I only wanted a basic room but did not have the option to chose anything other than the room I had @ £131.

When the bar closed at 11, the bar staff didn't suggest moving over to the comfortable reception/ lounge area. We had to drag the info from them. 4* hotel you don't expect to have to go to your room at 11. That said once we did move to reception area it was welcoming and cosy with open fire.

iron supplied but no ironing board in room. coffee machine in room but no pods to go in it. I'm sure if asked at reception both could have been provided however just a few little things would have made it excellent.
