Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaStairwells not brightly lit. Problem for visually impaired.
Check in was excellent. Even though we were early we were able to store our bags. All instructions re parking, breakfast instructions were clear as was directions for off sight parking (8 GDP per night). Many offers to help with bags. No street noise. Very good breakfast choices. Revisit? Definitely!

This historic property is perfectly located for visiting Salisbury Cathedral. Our room was decorated to a high standard with excellent quality bedding. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and had quite a lovely soaking tub in addition to a separate standing shower. The toiletries provided were quite nice as well. We couldn’t have had nicer interactions with the staff. They were so accommodating and kind. The breakfast was excellent in addition to an all around quite lovely stay.

United KingdomNot a complaint but a suggestion, maybe offer a choice of one or two eggs for breakfast. We were still Full from our evening meal! Breakfast though was also delicious.
Loved the history and the location. The bed was so comfortable and the room was very clean. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious.

Germanyyou just can't keep mattresses in the room that are bend like hammocks. We both had back pain after this night. Simply unacceptable. Having old and historic furnature in the room is nice, but beds should be modern.
the food is excellent. We got some sparerips there and a ribeye and I think both where the best we ever had to now and the pricing is really fair. The place is perfectly located near the cathedral and town center. The hotel is a lovely place, but we could not really sleep well due to the worn out mattresses.

United KingdomA number of electrical sockets and light fixtures were coming off. Surprised to have to pay for the 24 hour parking given the room cost (this hasn't happened here before to us).
Room was very clean, and comfortable and atmospheric. Breakfasts ere very generous although be prepared to pay extra for different drinks other than tea/ plain coffee. Dinner was very tasty especially the South African food - to be recommended.

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn't like.
We went here for my husband's 50th birthday. There were 23 of us and we ate in their private dining room. From start to finish it was exceptional. To booking and communication for various surprises to the rooms we stayed in there that evening. The food was well priced and delicious and the breakfast in the morning was very welcome after a heavy night. Salisbury has very few good hotels, so go to this one.

United KingdomFixed curtains meant they could not be closed to prevent early-morning light from falling on our asleep faces. Likewise, the fixed curtains meant we were unable to open them during the daytime to let in more natural light. A small chest-of-drawers instead of a desk would have provided storage space for clothes; the little drawers in the bedside cabinet did not provide enough room. Hooks (like the unused ones displayed on the walls of the restaurant) on the back of the door would provide hanging for wet outdoor coats.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean room and comfy bed. Delicious food. Comfortable restaurant. Close to city centre. The history of the building was very interesting but, because Listed Status does not allow change to the old, uneven stairs, they were difficult and dangerous to negotiate.

IrelandBecause of its age and heritage preservation requirements floors and stairs can be uneven and care must be taken in this regard. About half of the staff did not know how to smile, even when they were helpful, and this was unsettling.
An extremely attractive historical property. It is situated directly opposite an entrance to the cathedral area in Salisbury and close to the city facilities. Staff were generally helpful,

United KingdomBreakfast wasn't particularly tasty. In a vain attempt to be healthy I opted for avocado and poached eggs on toast. The avocado had no seasoning and was sadly very bland, not tasty at all. My partner had scrambled on toast (again it seemed to lack any seasoning).
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and staff were very attentive They dealt with the fact that 3 of our party decided not to show up with a very relaxed attitude. Looking forward to eating here again. The room we had was large and comfortable.
