Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe car park was tight to manoeuvre when full, but staff were super-helpful at guiding us out when asked.
The room was perfect, as was breakfast (table service). I especially liked the old lift and the cosy bar, which gave the hotel character. Staff were friendly and helpful in all areas, and even my dog was pampered. Overall, it was a lovely short break.

United KingdomThe bar area could do with better seating arrangement.
We were staying for a break after weeks of illness recovering from a stroke and this was a recuperation trip for us both. The staff were great help. And very understanding when I was struggling with communication and speech. They never made me feel out of place or that there was a issue. The staff made this stay great. And special for us. Afternoon tea was absolutely out of this world.

United KingdomNo problems with the hotel, but I was particularly advised by the people with whom I had been staying the nights before to be careful about going into the big amusement park that is hard by the hotel on the sea front. This may have been because it has a lot of slot machines for the hard gamblers amongst us, and one might be tempted to overspend here! Yarmouth itself is still a working port and so rather disconcertingly juxtaposes the picturesque with the strictly utilitarian, and you never quite know what you are going to see next if a complete stranger as I was. I did notice that there was a fairly long way to go to find a convenience store for items needing to be replenished purely for personal use!
Imperial Hotel has a good location on the sea front and provides a pleasant and comfortable home from home in Yarmouth, a town I did not know until finding I had a little extra time to spend in Norfolk after weekending in Cromer a few miles up the coast. Certainly, looking around the town I saw it was indeed the best place that could have been chosen for an overnight stay there. Breakfast was nicely served and made a good start to a further day touring in the area. I also had the chance to see, without committing to a long stay, the town from which some of my ancestors supposedly had hailed years ago, but had never before visited. It seems my mother's father, whom I did not know personally because he was not blessed with long life, had come from there, but connection to the place was lost because he joined the merchant navy over 100 years ago and never returned to live there!! The staff at the hotel and the manager were very gracious people who provided an excellent dinner on arrival in the evening, and the room was very comfortable with a great view of the sea.

United KingdomPossible increase on wardrobe space but appreciate that room sizes are governed by existing building layout.

United KingdomI'm sure the building and lift is listed but maybe you could look to modernise it maybe some automatic doors. But I have to admit it was fun using the lift with the authentic manually operated doors.
Good location for the event I came to Great Yarmouth to attend. I had a Seaview room and having breakfast on the terrace overlooking the sea was refreshing. The breakfast was plentiful and great quality products well cooked and presented. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made the stay feel special. Single room was nice and clean and had all the amenities I needed.

United KingdomThe room was very clean, comfortable and cosy. The bed was comfortable and how I like it so slept well. The bathroom was a nice size and very clean but the shower was amazing. Loved the shower, very powerful and felt great. It was also nice to receive decent Wi-Fi as many hotels say they provide Wi-Fi but it’s normally very poor Wi-Fi but this was excellent Wi-Fi coverage. Enjoyed my stay and nothing to complain about.
