I do have to note that as with other reviews there are issues with cleanliness - the bed and tea making facilities were clean but the room had a thick layer of dust on coving and lightshade, and the bathroom was unfortunate - Again, the loo, sink and shower pretty clean, but handles, flush, bathmats, corners etc need a deep clean.

The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful - let me stow my bag in a secure room both before check in and after check out without any charge, and offered me a choice of rooms based on my tolerance for noise as there was more than one available.

My only minor niggle is the shower on the first floor of rooms is terrible, boiling hot if on full but back it off a tiny bit and its freezing, probably needs replacing. Luckily there's another shower on the top floor ( not sure you're supposed to use this one though, it's in a utility room ) which works much better.

Nice little cheap and cheerful room above a pub.

The bathroom and carpet in the room and stairway

The location and the cost. It was above a pub which was noisy until 23:00 but I expected this, the shared bathroom wasn't the cleanest but adequate. The staff girl behind the bar was very pleasant.

The rooms are above a busy pub, which is a bit noisy until midnight. This didn't bother me much, but some might disagree.

This is no-nonsense accommodation which is very handily placed, near to both the city centre and the railway station. The room was spacious and clean, with kettle, iron and ironing board.

The toilet/shower (at end of the short corridor) is shared with another room but, for the price of the room, which was the lowest I could find by some margin, there's nothing I'd change.

Was well met by the friendly manager Rob and given a very clear and useful brief. Pub was well situated, near a couple of car parks and easy to get to. I'll definitely consider returning here again.

One of the windows in my room was open about 10cms the whole time, I was worried it would be to cold, but the heating was good. It did let in a lot of noise, but ear plugs were supplied. There were no net curtains, so when I was there during the day I had to close the curtains for privacy.

Friendly staff, I very much appreciated the guy carrying my trolley downstairs.

No food or breakfast offers, music a little loud and public shared amenities not good option as paid similar elsewhere for my own room and my own bathroom with breakfast meals included.

Loved the staff, very friendly. Public shower facilities are shared so did not use them for personal reasons. Wi-fi did not have any access from unscrupulous persons - and was with a similar link I used to have in a housing association and provided the level of privacy required in the room I was in. So extremely happy about that. Staff friendly and informative, informed me that homeless people locally seen before were linked to addiction trades but unknownif that information is correct or not, as helped out someone locally and am not into that myself.

Could have done with a hairdryer in the room and more coat hangers. Some of the maintenance and repairs looked a bit bodged. There were some spots that they had missed off when dusting (e.g. lampshade). The bed creaked.

Firstly, Rob, the manager, was wonderful. I was injured during my break, and he was so helpful in helping me by carrying bags and things that I could no longer manage due to being on crutches. He even asked me to phone reception from my room to ask him to come and help me and helped me down the stairs, etc. The hotel is basic but adequate. There is a shared bathroom, but it was usually free when you wanted to use it. The room had a sink, and shampoo and shower gel were provided as were towels. The hotel is above a lively sports pub which serves good drinks but no longer does food in the evenings ( not sure about breakfast as had to get up and out too early to find out on day one and then missed off day two due to injury).

Minor ''inconveniences'' - and only minor. Shared loo/shower down the hall - and it was boiling hot in there. Plug socket in room not near enough to mirror to make drying hair easy. Inadequate space between bed and full-length dressing mirror - moving the furniture around in the room would help with that, so that a guest could step back far enough to see themselves in the mirror. Overhead light a bit dim; even using bedside light didn't make it light enough in the room to see when putting make-up on. Again, brighter bulbs would help - and the bedside lamp was more suited by size to being in a sitting room. But all of these observations are of minor issues. Overall, I managed very well during my stay - and I'd stay again if I needed to be in Salisbury overnight.

As a solo, female traveller, I felt safe. Clean room - decor a little dated. Fresh-smelling white cotton bed linen (duvet) and towels, reasonable pillows and a fluffy ''throw'' cushion for leaning against. In-room washbasin with mirror above. Plenty of hot water for washing and a selection of toiletries were provided. Full length dressing mirror. Fair-size wardrobe with ironing board and iron. Small electric fan. Openable window. Comfy bed, if a little squeaky. Tea/coffee station, well-stocked with decent branded items and good biscuits. Little round side table and a bucket chair provided for sitting. Door wedge and snib lock for security. Access to secure little outside terrace for smoking and chatting. The overall appearance of furniture in the room (room 7) is a little bit ''early flatpack'' and quite dated/cheap-looking, but it's perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Friendly customers in the pub below the rooms and although there was a little noise from the pub until 12.30 (on a Friday night) it wasn't intrusive. The other guests I met were all ''returners'', so it's definitely not a bad place to stay - people like a bargain. I feel I got what I paid for at the Huntsman- and, considering some of the less-than-flattering reviews I read about it, I got more than I was expecting and I wasn't unhappy at all with my experience. It's a budget price hotel in a city where other hotels are MUCH more expensive.
