Holly Lodge is in an excellent location 10-15 minute walk to town centre but we preferred the walk alongside the river. In the evening we chose local taxis to and from town which were reasonably priced. The room was comfortable but not modern however, Geoff is an excellent host who spends time with all guests to ensure they enjoy their stay.

The bed was uncomfortable, and in the shower there was a curtain, what I not really prefer, but you can’t see it in the pictures of the accomodation on booking.com.

The host, Geoff is very kind and helpful. You can reach the center within 10 minutes. There is a pub and a shop very close to the accomodation, and a bus stop just in front of it.

The shower in our room wasn't great, but was ok for a few days. Otherwise all fine.

Hosts were very welcoming and great at communicating. The location is perfect for walking along the river into the city. Great breakfast options nearby. It was great to be able to park onsite.

My only suggestion would be some room fans be made available as the rooms get very hot and due to the age of the windows and double glazing we didn't like to force them open.

Geoff, the owner, is such a lovely man and full of helpful tips. Made us feel very welcome. The decor is a little dated, but the bed was extremely comfortable and we couldn't hear any other guests so good night's sleep.

It got very hot in the flat and the fan supplied was small however we visited when it was extremely hot so I wouldn’t rate the place down for this too much for this

Geoff was a fantastic host really great guy very friendly and informative without being overbearing. Location was excellent a nice 15 minute walk to the city centre on the river was perfect. Room was clean and bed was comfy. The venue its self was very pretty and the parking saved us plenty of money and hassle.

I loved the location. It was a beautiful walk to the University, which hosted the conference I was attending, and only a slightly longer walk to York Centre. The room was lovely and well furnished, and the hosts were warm and welcoming.

The shower was a bit difficult, the water temperature changed from hot to cold. I have seen two or three moths in the bedroom and a spider in the bathroom; but things like that happen, and I was already leaving anyway.

The hotel is lovely, my room was clean and comfortable, and the host was really friendly. The location is good, just about 10 minutes from the gorgeous city centre of York. I enjoyed the stay very much, and I am sad that I could not afford to stay longer.

The shower was positioned slightly funny. Could still shower, but had to lean in.

Such a lovely welcome from Geoff, with a run down for walks into town which was great as we got to walk along the canal for 10 minutes into town. It is really close to city centre but just enough of that is relatively quiet. Old fashioned building which I loved, our room has a bath and shower which was great as I got to relax. Tea and coffee facilities in the room but the location is so perfect you can just pop outside and there are a number of cafes to choose from. Would definitely stay again.

The only negative I could give was the bathroom was a little small but had everything you need and could have done with full length mirror. But not really anything that would stop me staying again.

Geoff was very helpful and kind. Nice easy walk to the centre and easy to find your way, especially with Geoff giving us directions. The house was beautiful and the room was lovely😀
