The bathroom coukd of been cleaner around the sink , underneath old drips had dried , a towel was left unfolded on the radiator so wasn’t sure whether it was clean

I was not aware before arriving that the rooms are not cleaned/serviced daily The whole bedroom wing was rather worn and in need of redecorating My room looked out onto an earth bank Bed was worn but adequately comfortable for one; duvet was very good. Toilet in the bedroom was too close to the side wall; awkward to sit onto. The flush was poor. The hand soap dispenser at the washbasin was missing. Apart from that, the bathroom was clean and modern. Food was mediocre; a lot seemed reheated. Local resturants (those I tried) were not much better. OK, it was off-season, but disappointing.

Location, core building and public rooms are beautiful. Shower was very good; plenty of hot water.

Place could do with an update. Why when the room is so hot do they put a very heavy quilt on just put a sheet in the room give people the choice.

Rooms very noisy, easily could hear people in the room above talking, people taking their barking dog, which was staying in the hotel, to toilet at 3.30 in the morning, someone in one of the rooms next to me throwing up....

Finding the room was a bit tricky but not a big deal in the end, breakfast was too expensive for an overnight Business trip.

The mattress could have been better and the rooms were not soundproof - could hear conversations of people passing the room.

Bed was a little hard and pillows too thin. There were only a couple of staff in so drinks/food took a but longer but staff were nice.

The hotel looks very nice from the outside and when you first enter. I was a little disappointed with the decor in the hallways and in our room, I was expecting it to be a little bit more classy. It just looks quite basic. The breakfast was alright but I was expecting waiter service and there were only scrambled eggs on offer.

The hotel is in a lovely location and looks great from the outside. The entrance foyer is lovely and was nicely decorated. The bed was very large and probably the most comfortable that I have slept in.

The bedrooms were a little tired compared to the rest of hotel which was decorated beautifully.my understanding from staff that these were slowly being refurbished.

The decoration downstairs from lobby to restaurant was stunning but the best part was the staff especially the receptionist and bar staff . We had a few issues with our room x 2 and they simply couldn’t do enough and upgraded us to a suit which was stunning. The food in restaurant was very good and breakfast lovely although lady supervising could have been a bit more friendly.

Nothing met my expectations and choice of stay.

Room was spacious although was different to what was booked via booking dot com. large Bathroom and good sized bed that offered a good nights rest after a long drive. There was a complimentary bottle of red wine which i felt was a beautiful touch and really was welcoming on arrival. Some real character and history with the building and set in beautiful landscapes and country feel but not far from the main amenities. Bath products were of a high standard and not the normal token shampoo and body wash that you would get from a branded company. If you want a beautiful building with excellent attention to detail and relaxing stay then use Hollin House Hotel. Unfortunately I didn't use the dinning facilities but will next time as it was nearly full for dinner both residents and non residents.

Some of the decor was a little tired but nothing major at all.

Gorgeous building with beautiful period features. Comfortable room with nice clean bathroom and good shower. The staff were fantastic and really helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent I ate in the restaurant at breakfast and for dinner. Great choice and everything cooked fresh.

Dinner supposed to be Italian but although menus Italian, it was cooked in a British way. The lasagne was not very Italian and the bolognaise sauce was chunks of beef and one layer of pasta instead of minced beef in alternate layers of pasta and bolognaise sauce. We decided to eat out for the rest of our stay. The hotel was fine but was somewhat of a "rabbit warren" because the hotel had been extended with additional bedroom wings. There were three light bulbs not working in our room so it was difficult to read anything due to the low light. When we asked for new light bulbs we were moved immediately as they did not keep any spare bulbs which was odd. There was no external lighting to the car park which was down a slope - difficult in the dark without a torch. Easy to rectify.

My room was cold - the radiators did not junction but I told reception and this was sorted by a portable radiator that plugged into the electricity. All good after that.

Great isolated location. Lack of any noise apart from local sheep! Grand entrance and super friendly staff. One problem I had was dealt with extremely quickly. Lovely restaurant and the menu for the evening was super
