Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelThe walk back up from Lynton could be steep if you struggle walking, but the location adds to the charm. It's not a criticism just a note for those who may need to know.
The location was stunning, Highcliffe House lives up to its name and the views from the rooms are quite spectacular. We travelled as a family, so we had 2 rooms, the larger one was particularly lovely, but each one has its own particular charm. The common areas are lovely, spotlessly clean and always graced with a beautiful scent. There is a lot of attention to detail and loving care has been put into the decor and arrangement. Richard and Robert "R&R" are the most friendly, warm and accommodating hosts, thank you for the warmth and support you showed us!

A beautiful view ( up a very steep hill ) and an amazing B&B. Robert and Richard were brilliant hosts and made sure we were comfortable and welcome and we had everything we needed. The bed and linens were so comfortable and luxurious. A fantastic breakfast. We particularly liked having fresh milk available at all times in a fridge next to the breakfast room (sometimes it’s just the little things that make a stay perfect 😃) There is parking on site and a garden patio for sitting with a drink watching the sunset. Very romantic.

BelgiumMy wife and I had the pleasure of staying at High Cliff House in Lynton during our journey through the stunning landscapes of South England. Without a doubt, this was the most beautiful and inviting place we have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we were spellbound by the immaculate decor and cleanliness that greeted us. Our room was an absolute delight - spacious, cozy, and impeccably neat. The interior design and breathtaking views from our window left us in awe. We could not have asked for a more delightful setting to unwind and soak in the picturesque surroundings. What truly sets High Cliff House apart is the warmth and kindness of the owners. They were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with anything we needed. We instantly felt at home in their presence, and their genuine hospitality made our stay even more memorable. Regrettably, we couldn't extend our visit as much as we would have liked, as we were captivated by the heavenly breakfast. It was a delight for the senses, and we savored every moment of it. Rest assured, we have already vowed to return to High Cliff House for a longer stay. It's a place that has stolen our hearts, and we cannot wait to relive the enchantment and create more cherished memories. Thank you, High Cliff House, for making our stay an extraordinary one! We wholeheartedly recommend this charming haven to anyone seeking an unforgettable escape amidst nature's beauty and genuine hospitality.

SwitzerlandThe location of the B&B is basically very good, however, the B&B is located above the village of Lynton, as well as Lynmouth in a steep slope, whereby it can be very tiring to walk back up after a dinner. However, there are cabs.
l Everything was perfect, starting with the room, which was lovingly decorated and very clean. The hosts were very friendly. The hosts personally took us to the room, explaining everything. It was perfect. The location of the hotel offers spectacular views.

IrelandWe simply adored every minute of our stay in this wonderfully appointed property. From our first greeting to our reluctant goodbyes it offered an oasis of calm and a truly restful and restorative break. The hosts, being seasoned travellers themselves, went above and beyond and clearly understand how to make their guests feel at home. The breakfasts were sublime and the welcome afternoon tea set the tone for a memorable stay in the lovely Devon. We hope to return some day.
