Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing!
The cottage was spotlessly clean and well equipped, with thoughtful touches such a bunch of roses and food necessities (milk, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, etc). The location was perfect.

United KingdomSuch a cosy and warm cottage full of charm with the modern touch to make it feel like home. There's all you need for a comfortable stay and the owners have kindly left some tea, coffee and biscuits for your arrival, just remember to bring your milk. It would be a nice, but, steep walk down into Hebden Bridge with a very steep climb back up the hill. We are walkers but, decided to make it easier by driving the car down there instead! Heptonstall is such a wonderful village with just a little Post Office that sells a few supplies so come prepared if you need anything or pop into one of the two pubs or Tea shop if it's food or drink you are after. We loved it so much that we are sure to be staying there again sometime. Many thanks

United KingdomOccasionally there was a high pitch noise - the best way I can describe it is that it sounded like feedback from a microphone getting too close to a speaker, or an old car pressing slowly on squeaky brakes. It was quite regular on the first evening/night, every 20 minutes or so, and more sporadic on the second night. However, I think it may have been coming from outside and that’s no fault of the property or the hosts, and it didn’t stop me from being able to sleep - it was just a bit strange! Next time I’d probably bring a smaller bag, just because it was a bit awkward trying to get it up and down the spiral staircase on my own, but that’s my own fault for not thinking ahead after seeing the stairs on the property photos. Overall, there wasn’t anything that I disliked about the property itself and I would definitely stay again.
The property was beautifully decorated and in an ideal location. The property was even decorated for Christmas, which was a really nice touch. There was everything that I could have asked for - the only things I needed to get were food items. The facilities and furnishings were all to a high standard and were in excellent condition. The double bed was extremely comfortable. I didn’t need to use the attic room but it looked like a lovely space.

United KingdomI had difficulties with the spiral staircase, but that was a 'me' thing as i am mobility restricted. The stairs also made it hard for getting cases upstairs, but there was plenty of room under the stairs to store them.
The cottage was lovely, with everything we needed for our stay. Easy to collect the keys. The shower cubical was a good size and the beds were really comfortable, we were grateful for the throws in the living room come evening. The location was great, but by bus, it was more than a 'couple of houses down', press for the next stop as you pass the pub. Saying the cottage is right by the pub (or has a seat outside) would make it much easier to find. It's a small village and isn't a negative thing. We weren't disturbed by any noise. The buses back and forth to Hebden Bridge are 2 an hour and run quite late into the night, the drivers were friendly and gave advice on which tickets were best for our stay and its worth noting the bus stop is right outside the rail stn up to Heptonstall. The tea rooms are shut on Tuesdays, same with the pub next door (for food) the local post office has a few basics foodwise (open 9-5pm Mon-Sat), but you'd be best to get main shopping in Hebden before travelling up to Heptonstall (Co-op is nearest with a bus stop just outside) there was a Market at Hebden Bridge on Thursday. Heptonstall is small, but there was so much to explore with fantastic views down the vallys and buildings from a by-gone era around every corner. The local residents are so friendly and helpful (from helping with cases and locating the cottage to giving impromptu history lessons) worth also noting the flags (pavement) are really slippy after rain but the cobbled road is fine! You can hear vehicles approaching so its safe enough to walk in the road. We'd not hesitate to rebook to return.

United KingdomAs mentioned before parking is a bit of a pain, the road is very narrow also so if you bump heads with another car it's hard to pass. There seems to be a local bus that runs every hour or so from early hours and I'm a light sleeper so it woke me nearly every time. That's not fault of the landlords though. The closest place to park is down a very tight lane down the road and trekking our luggage up hill took some effort
Really bi e place, lovely Cobblestone streets! House was amazing the only thing that let it down at all was the parking situation and the bus that runs down the road every hour from early hours. Couldn't fault the accommodation at all. Extremely clean and comfortable. Shower didn't have much pressure but it works. Really nice little place and great value for money

United KingdomStaircase a bit precarious for older people. Dropping the luggage off a bit of a nightmare as on a main road but just parked a bit higher up and walked down so not too bad.
Cozy cottage in a friendly little village. Loved it didnt want to leave. Everything to hand in the cottage. Parking two mins down the road down a small lane just past the pubs . Both pubs made you feel like a local spot on.
