Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Loved its proximity to Alton Towers (7 miles approx), it was beautifully quiet and private, fully equipped kitchen, living area with freeview TV, WiFi (SD streaming quality), lovely comfy bed, powerful shower, fully private hot tub, allocated parking space. Would definitely stay again!

United KingdomThe lady was so rude. Not welcoming a atall. When we asked for directions. She replied “can’t you read the sign”. Wouldn’t go there again just from the snobbiness. No privacy.
Very cute property was lovely. The actual cottage was gorgeous. Just the staff was a joke.

United KingdomThe lady over seeing the property didn't even acknowledge us when we pulled up, she just looked and looked away but the next day she just seemed to be there all the time just outside even though the weather was horrendous felt a little uncomfortable if being honest. The fact the hot tub could only be used between 10am and 10pm as it was cleaned every night just after 10pm don't get why it needed to be cleaned during the 2 nights we were supposed to be there. Booked Friday to Sunday but actually came home at 7pm Saturday night.

United KingdomIt's a shame check-out is 10am...11am would've been better. I totally understand that there's lots to do though & a tight schedule in place. I just wanted to sit on the balcony looking at the beautiful views, listening to the birds & relaxing over a leisurely breakfast....totally selfish of me! 😘😂
Perfect location...off the beaten track. Just what I needed...a complete escape & the best night's sleep ever! 👌

United KingdomI didn't like the temperatures of the hot tub, the instructions left everywhere, the mold in the little windows, the hot tub didn't work properly and the amount of cameras made it uncomfortable and loads more bad points.
The interior was nice at first

United KingdomThe kitchen was not fully equipped (i.e the oven tray is too big for the oven, no tea towels etc) the hot tub didn’t have lights working properly, and what made the stay disappointing was the owner. Firstly, we didn’t know how to turn on the oven (yes I know a silly point!) usually we would either turn on the oven first, or look for a switch to double check it was turned on. After texting the owner (before 6:30pm), we were directed to the ovens full manual (of about 40 pages! We had a quick flick through however we are on holiday it shouldn’t be so hard to turn an oven on!) after messaging the owner once again she replied stating that the timer has to be on (why not say that in the first place - or better yet have instructions as part of a welcome book!). Secondly, the second day we were there (unbeknownst to us at the time) we accidentally turned off the boiler (while looking for the oven switch!) after calling the owner - I said to her “there is a chance we have flipped a switch by accident I’m sorry is there an on switch” her response was rude and uninformative, she just kept going on about how she lived 2.5 hours away and it’s a Sunday. We decided to go out for a walk and during that time either the owner or someone she knows came and switched it back on (if she had told us where the switch was we could have done it ourselves!). Once it had been fixed I received rude messages from the owner. This would have been a lovely stay if two things had happened, firstly - if the owner stayed there herself and would realise little things like the oven tray doesn’t fit in the oven, the lights for the hot tub don’t work etc. and if the owner changed her attitude and maybe understood that she is dealing with the general public and maybe we don’t all have boilers that have switches in the kitchen - or don’t have ovens where timers need to be put on to start the oven!
The location of the property is lovely.

United KingdomOn arrival it was very dark and didn't see the sign for which cottage was ours. Owner pokes her head out and bluntly asks. We apologise and say we're staying. Considering they were expecting us by the way. She then asks, again bluntly, can't you see the sign. There was no hi, bye, hope you have a nice day. Just closed the door after pointing. It really put me off the rest of the stay. Then on leaving at the car, a woman, possibly the owner, said hi to someone else that was staying asking how their stay was but ignored us completely. Was all a bit strange really. Had a bit of a funny smell. The motion sensor light really ruins it. And it does feel like house can see you in the hot tub. The leaflets chucked in a box could be improved with your own suggestions and tips etc.
Had all the facilities needed. Big bed, quite hard but fine enough. Good shower. Hot tub is nice. Clean enough. Good value. Amazing location.

United KingdomAccess- the road to get here is pot hole city! Thankfully I have a big car, but if you don't I'd avoid! The window of time to arrive is only 2hours. You HAVE to arrive between 16.00 and 18.30 which is just ridiculous. We travelled and traffic was bad so I was so stressed we wouldn't make it and be locked out. The hot tub- the reason we picked here was because we wanted to find a place with a hot tub. You are only allowed to be in it until 10pm, I've never stayed anywhere beford that dictates a schedule for everything you do! There is a light that turns on every second if you move that is bright and invasive and stops you having privacy (because the main house windows face the jacuzzi and the road is on the other side) so you feel on show. The jacuzzi area is a walk from the house with no lighting so we couldn't see to get to/from the place. The roof above the jacuzzi area is broken so stagnant water drips on you. We got out way before our curfew ended because it wasn't great. We also seen someone moving around in the main house garden looking down to the jacuzzi. After noticing him, he came down to ask us if we had milk because none had been delivered that day. It was like 9pm and seemed like a weird excuse. Made us feel a bit uncomfortable. The place- there is constant rules and rule books for everything. You book it and then just before you arrive there is a list of do's and dont's. Some of which i think are unreasonable. Like stripping your bed.... you want me to take the bedding home and wash it for you aswell? I didnt mind having to wash up, but you made a big thing about being charged and then no cleaning sponges was available. We wanted a nice night away, to relax and every aspect of this was a chore and an effort. There are loads of other places that offer similar thing for a similar price without all the hassle so I suggest you keep looking for anywhere else!
The size of the place was good, it was cosy and ideal in that regard.

United KingdomVery unfriendly hosts. Should be honest and state no WiFi. Shelter around the hot tub in a state of disrepair, with dirty water leaking from above. No real ventilation in bathroom and whole cottage smells mouldy. We have stayed in many cottages and this is the first negative review I have written.

United KingdomYou could be a bit more accommodating with your hours of check in. I messaged to say I would arrive after you 2 he check in window of 16.00 to 18.30. It was a 4 hour drive for us and as you could see I booked the property last minute. Most other places would say yes that's fine, but from you I got a message telling me to cancel the booking. That is rude
The location is beautiful and the cottage is set out really nicely with everything you would need for a self catering stay. The hot tub out the back is a brilliant little extra to the cottage
