Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAdjoining room walls were thin so occasionally could hear the other guests whether they were talking or had the tv on, but this didn’t put us off. We had evening meal once which we thought was over priced for what you got. Mains were just that and you had to buy sides eg vegetables. The food was wonderful and very tasty. If your staying at the hotel then you should have paid a lower amount for the food and normal prices if you just came in. We couldn’t work out the thermostat in the room and radiators were always on but thankfully there was a fan in the room and the windows would open.
The rooms were immaculate. Far better than we expected. Incredible attention to detail, comfy and cosy. The staff were very welcoming and decorated our room for my husbands birthday. The bed was so comfy. Great central location in Douglas.

AustraliaThere was some minor noise which I think was coming from the lift that was next to my room. It did not continue after about 10pm.
Ideal location on the promenade near to bus stops and the shopping centre. Very good attached restaurant which serves an excellent included breakfast. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious.

United KingdomA bit spenny and diet coke £2.50 at the bar. Thought was told could get free fridge refills throughout the day so not sure if miss heard when checked in. Really minor miss understanding though, the hotel is genuinely lovely and the staff were brill. Nice breakfast and coffee too.
What a lovely place and view. Great staff, would recommend.

United KingdomThe mood lighting was broken in the room. I would have preferred to have been informed prior to arrival and ordered the house champagne on the first night with our meal at the hotel but served cava, which isn't even on the menu. Charged the price of champagne! £36 The night prior to leaving when we went to settle our bill, we were offered (a shop bought) complimentry bottle of prosecco but it was 10pm, too late for us to drink so I had to ask to pay for price of the cava and not champagne told we don't serve cava! We paid the price of a bottle of prosecco £24 I felt the bottle should have been complimentary for the mix up. (The cava tasted very different to champagne) We stayed in a superior room 4th floor overlooking the sea. Great size. Very comfy beds and pillows. Loved the complimentary mini fridge of goodies each day. Breakfast was soooo filling really set you up for the day. Hotel were great and sorted a taxi to and from the airport (fyi £30 ea way)
Fab location.

United KingdomBeautiful property ideally located on the promenade. Room was well maintained and spacious, very comfortable and overlooking the sea. Staff were exceptional and very friendly. Pete was very welcoming and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. He clearly loves his job and is an excellent ambassador for the Halvard Hotel. Rachel, Chloe and Grace also very friendly and efficient.

United KingdomMy husband and I have stayed here last year and returned once again as it's our Go To hotel in Douglas - it is very well located on the seafront, has exceptional cleanliness standards and although officially rated a 4 star hotel, there are touches which elevate the client experience to another notch upwards such as the inclusion of slippers in your room, super fluffy white towels including Face Cloths/Towels(!) and a generous and complimentary mini bar. However, on this visit we met Peter who is one of the Managers and whose customer service is just amazing. Peter is very professional, patient, friendly, totally focused on making customers happy and feel at home, explaining all the services and offering ideas for places to eat and other activities and was a joy to interact with. What an asset to the hotel he is!

United KingdomParking is tricky but this is the case for every hotel on the front
Impressed immediately on arrival. Very clean, reception welcoming and tidy. On going to our room we were taken back by the stunning views across the sea front, the room was very spacious and modern. The bed was large and comfy the bathroom was tidy and very well sized with a walk in shower and a large bath. Lots of complimentary drinks and snacks which were replenished daily. Breakfast was served quickly with great portion sizes and was very tasty.

United KingdomFloors a little uneven in the bedroom which made it a little problematic for me personally as I suffer from vertigo. Didn’t like the coloured lights in the bedroom though I’m sure lots will. Would have liked some natural yoghurt and more fresh fruit at breakfast.

United KingdomThe hotel is very close to a kebab shop and people were outside making noise until 4am in the morning. It's not the hotel's fault, but a heads up that that can be an occurrence would be helpful.

United KingdomThe WiFi in my room was okay for what I needed but it did lag at times and signal wasn't ideal in certain parts of the room. but that's being really picky to be honest.
Staff were really helpful and friendly, anything needed was well catered for. We were told the minibar was all complimentary for our stay with some cold drinks, water and some snacks which was a welcome treat after a days work. Breakfast was great too with some nice choices for a warm breakfast.
