Sea views lovely breakfast

Rooms were old decor. Few room windows opened above garbage bins making the room smelly. Corridors and doors were quite old looking.

The hotel.was dated apart from our room. The corridors were narrow and dated, and a bit of a maze to get to our room on the 2nd floor. ( Not good if you have mobility issues) Woodchip wallpaper in the corridor?! Took the lift to the 2nd floor and still had a trek through lots of doors and up and down lots of stairs. Mind boggling!! No phone in room to call reception. Garden area could have been doing with the grass getting cut, quite dangerous when walking with drinks as it was a trip hazard.

The room had a fantastic view. Room was comfy. Housekeeping were very accommodating.

There was a really loud noise in our room coming from the radiator at around midnight that kept us awake for a bit - we were worried it was going to keep us up all night, but thankfully it stopped. So nothing to complain about! We had a good time.

Staff were very friendly, the room was nice and clean (bigger than expected) and breakfast was worth it just for the view. Only stayed for 1 night as a pit stop and we were satisfied with what we received.

Noise from the road and the shop across the way was ongoing at 10pm but reduced later. View from the window over a very tatty building.

Parking was reserved for us. Rooms clean and linen wonderful. We ate in the restaurant and a table by the window overlooking the sea was reserved for us.

The rules and regulations were ridiculous, silly and irritating. Not from the hotel management or staff but apparently the owners of the hotel a brewery. For example the rigidity in relation to the menu. The lunch menu runs from 11am to 5pm and one can order a baked potato from that menu, but if one wants to order a baked potato with the evening meal, it's not an option because it's not on the evening menu, the options are chips or fries. Surely there could be some leeway. If you try to request the starter as a main course, common in other establishments, it's not allowed, one has to order 2 starters which are served on 2 separate plates, totally ridiculous. You have to go to the bar to order your meals, a table server would be a nicer option.

Location, comfortable beds, power of water supply, lovely comfortable rooms, the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel in general. The friendliness of the staff and the effort they put in. Very helpful.

The economy room is small, with no air con and a side view of the neighbourhood.

The hotel location is magnificent. The view from the hotel bar/restaurant overlooks the sea.

The floors were very creaky both in the room and out in the corridor.

Absolutely loved our stay! The room was lovely with a comfortable bed and the view was amazing. The parking space was ready when we arrived which was handy.

Hotel and rooms in general could do with a revamp. We were hoping for a sea view from our bedroom which we didn't get, however all the rooms beside us had an amazing view so we were very disappointed.

Staff were amazing! All so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Beautiful backdrop with a lovely beach setting. Everything was extremely clean. Food was good and reasonable.

Scruffy bedroom. More poor quality b&b than hotel. Corridors and staircases had peeling paint and plaster hanging from ceilings. Needs some tlc.

Room located too far from reception to carry all my luggage, initial ‘cabbage’ smell in the room (cured by opening the window) and a wardrobe door that I had to prop a chair against, bright blue towel rail light when off, next to the bed (put a sock over it at night!)

Bed was really soft, and the building would benefit from a refurb both inside and out.

The Location is second to none, the beach is at the back door! The staff were so good, really couldn't do anymore to help us. highly recommend the breakfast!

As some other reviews say, the floor is creaky but this is to be expected from such a very old building. Again, as the building is old the number of available plug sockets was very limited compared to more modern buildings. Only one of the bedside tables had a single plug, the tv and kettle took up the 2 plugs by the table and we often unplugged to allow us to charge phones etc. Another single plug was over in the corner, by nothing but a radiator so this was never used. We personally found the bed too soft but some may like this. The bathroom was very compact and the shower was very narrow, some people may struggle to use it without bumping into doors and walls etc. We found there was a lack of surfaces available to put things on, the dressing table was half taken up by the tea and coffee tray. There was a wardrobe which we didn’t use.

All of the staff were really pleasant and helpful. We had a town view on the corner and it was really bright and spacious. The room had a super king bed and was very clean. The shower had good water pressure. Parking available at an extra cost out the front but was very convenient and good to know we always had a space available when we came back from a day out. The room was cleaned/refreshed daily unless you put out a do not disturb sign. The tea and coffee caddy is refilled. The bar downstairs has great views and the usual pub grub menu with large portions at a reasonable price for Cornwall.
