Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

One often associates a ‘shepherd’s hut’ holiday with basic amenities and accommodation that is not the best. So enter a new world of delight at GoldenValley Shepherd’s Hut! When you arrive, parking spaces within 30 seconds walk of the hut. Set high above a valley with the most magnificent views, this delightful hut boasts panoramic french windows through which you enter into the dining and kitchen area. In inclement weather you can revel in the views from a well heated and well equipped small kitchen, with a dining table, hob, microwave and very efficient fridge. The movable table which hides away in a niche when not needed, allows really great dining, but the ability after a meal to open the two large side doors, and relax in the dining chairs to soak in the incredible views. Cows down the valley, sheep a little further away. Great varieties of bird life, and in this year of poor numbers of butterflies, a great range of species enjoying the wild flowers which abound here. In warm weather a choice of deck chairs and outside dining with tables and chairs allows al fresco dining at its best. But this is only the start! As you enter this hut, to your right is the bathroom. It’s probably the best use of space I have ever seen! A large walk in shower, a generous wash hands basin and toilet are surrounded by beautiful tiling and a magnificent heated towel rail, which if truth be told, provides a great ambient heat source for the whole hut, although there is an electric oil heater and a fan heater should that be required. On the others side of this well designed living space is a generous double bed, with a window by one’s feet. On an impulse we chose to sleep at the window end, and leave the window wide open. What a joy to doze off with the stars and the moon almost within touching reach! An extremely comfortable bed with a topper mattress.

United KingdomPlease do not 100% rely on sat nav, as took on far too many miles along country lanes, basically head for dorstone, and just about 1 mile of country lane
Self catered, however host left milk, tea bags and coffee and biscuits for us, also ample cleaning products towels, and well equipped kitchen

United KingdomThat we hadn’t booked a longer stay 😄
A peaceful haven nestled in Herefordshire’s Golden Valley. Wonderful hosts who made us feel very welcome and at home. The hut is tastefully decorated, very well equipped and was spotlessly clean. We really appreciated the milk, biscuits, water & jug of flowers kindly left for us on arrival. The weather was very good to us during our visit so we enjoyed our evenings sitting outside with a glass of wine drinking in the beautiful view, reading our book buys from Hay, and watching the house martins. This may become our new bolthole. Thank you for a delightful stay!
