Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Glen Garth Guest House checked all our boxes and then some. First, the room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. The location was really great too, being no more than a 20 minute walk from the heart of the city and around 10 minutes from the train station. Plus, it was just a 10 minute drive from the zoo as well! The breakfast was an awesome bonus: small full English with the addition of cereals, toast, jams, yoghurts, coffee, juice etc. It was delicious too! But to top it all off, Hayley and John were marvellous hosts, accommodating mine and my partner's late arrival, always being friendly and talkative as well as being knowledgeable of Chester. We both loved Chester and can whole-heartedly say that when we do visit again, we'll being staying with Hayley and John!

United KingdomNothing not to like! Hosts Hayley & John are most welcoming and easy to talk to. As a female travelling solo I felt completely at ease. The Guest House is beautiful with the most gorgeous little touches throughout. There is a lovely family history to the place (that you can read about in the welcome book in the bedroom). This book is full of really useful information. I was on business and worked in the evening. The WiFi was completely reliable in my room (4). My room came with a private, separate bathroom. Both were immaculate with little additions to make your stay that little bit nicer. The area is lovely and just a mile from the the centre. I forgot to ask for allocated parking on booking. There's room for 4 maybe 5 cars at the back of the house. Hayley sorted this out for me no problem on arrival and was on hand via text message for any assistance. The breakfast was incredible. I wouldn't usually have a full English midweek 😆 but couldn't resist and I was not disappointed! Beautiful Guest House, you get so much for your money. I'll never book the Travelodge again!

United KingdomThis was not a problem to me, but be aware that the rooms are up a staircase, with no lift.
The room was spacious, quiet and very comfortable, and the en-suite power shower was very well behaved. Breakfast was superb, with self service cereals, toast and fine preserves, and a cooked breakfast produced just as you would like it. The owners Hayley and John are endlessly helpful, and fluent in French and Italian. The house is under ten minutes walk from Chester Station, and a quarter of an hour from the city centre, with frequent buses from just in front of the gate. The folder in the room includes the bus timetables, and in the hall there is a list of current exhibitions and special events.

United KingdomHosts were very friendly with excellent knowledge of the area. Their self made guide books were very well put together. Bus stop right outside the property for easy access to the zoo and town centre. The room and beds are a comfortable combination of space and comfort. Breakfast catered to all needs and even offered many alternatives for different diets and religious choices. Safe parking is available and a short walk from local shops and restaurants. Fantastic friendly venue. Just what you want for a guest house.

United KingdomThe shower in our room was a little bit small but still perfectly adequate!
Incredibly clean, tidy and homely stay. We were well looked after by John and Hayley from before we arrived until after we left. The breakfast was delicious and we both left absolutely stuffed. Beds incredibly comfy so we slept like logs. We really appreciated the small touches like having tea/coffee in the room. John and Hayley are very friendly, kind hosts who clearly care about their guests. I would definitely recommend Glen Garth to anyone going to visit Chester.

United KingdomI had a huge train delay well past normal check in time and the host was very kind and stayed up for me even though she was very tired. Room was huge and breakfast good. Very handy for station (within 15 mins walk, 5 mins taxi) and not as noisy as I feared despite being on a main road.

United KingdomCold plates for cooked breakfast! The bedroom was a good size but the shower could have been more generous.
Hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Location excellent; easy walk or bus from the front gate into Chester, good range of eateries round the corner. Breakfasts; good choice and quality, nicely cooked. It was a bonus to have a washbasin in the bedroom as well as in the en suite.
