Nothing - as four senior travellers who have lived in small towns in rural Australia we really valued the experience of spending time in rural Wales.

This hotel is family owned and run and is a wonderful example of local hospitality. The history of the building has been preserved while the rooms have been updated to provide modern comforts. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the service is great even on a very busy night when a local group celebrated in the hotel.

This small, family-run hotel has a very friendly welcome. The room was spotless, and the food was excellent. I enjoyed winding down with a whisky or two in the hotel bar in the evening before heading out to a conference in Aberystwyth the next day. It's in a beautiful location too. I would definitely stay here again.

Great location , lovely friendly hotel, staff were lovely very helpful. Storage for motorcycles which is excellent. Great night sleep. Food was great really enjoyed the stay will be back again.

Owners are so lovely people and obviously couldn't forget to mention about their puppy, he will be amazing pub dog 😊 I fully recommend to go there, you won't be disappointed 😊 Breakfast so good too, can't say anything bad 🤗

The George Borrow Hotel was easy to find, ample off road parking. We were met by a very helpful lady and she explained everything to us clearly and plesently. Our room was nice and clean with all services as advertised. The food was very nice and the whole experience felt very homely. We would certainly go again.

Setting was lovely with seating area outside which was great in the good weather. The house was old and characterful. The breakfast was good and we had dinner there two evenings and the food was good. Hotel well placed for the Red Kite feeding reserve. Aberystwyth not far away

The bath room is on the small side.

The breakfast was very good. Portions were above average. The bar serves a good choice of beers. plenty of room to park our motor bikes.

Being next to a main road, the traffic noise might be a problem for some, though it didn't bother us.

An ideal stopover for our motorbike tour of mid Wales and the Cambrian Mountains. Friendly family-run business, about 12 miles from Aberystwyth. Some decent beer at the bar. Good breakfast. Motorbikes can be locked in the hotel garage overnight. Nice view over a gorge from the rear garden.

The breakfast was lovely with plenty choice & nothing was a problem if you wanted to change anything on what we ordered.All the staff were amazing & couldn't have been more friendly or helpful in every aspect.Would definitely book with them again...😊

Probably could do with a bit on renovation, however it is perfectly liveable. I like a bigger TV but I understand that the clientele are bikers, hikers etc, so probably not important to the likes of them. Comfy beds and cosy atmosphere.

Excellent location and beautiful views. Very welcoming family run hotel. Nothing is too much trouble. Evening meals and breakfasts were very good and great value for money. Rooms had everything you needed and more.

I was so pleased to be able to book this hotel when my original cancelled at short notice. The George Borrow is a lovely place to stay with very friendly and welcoming staff and a homely atmosphere. Everywhere was clean and tidy. My room was perfect for me with a great shower. The breakfast was really tasty as were the evening meals which I had both evenings. I really enjoyed them and thought they were good value too. There was a good selection of drinks in the bar which also had a tv and pool table.
