Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe George and Dragon is a very, very old building, so it is understandable that converting it into a hotel that meets certain H&S standards is challenging, but there were some DIY projects that even I could tackle to make it look more appealing. The window was single-glazed with wired safety glass and fastened with cable ties. The shower was not great. The interior walls were thin, although the bed was comfortable so there was no problem getting to sleep.
The location was absolutely fantastic. Because breakfast was not included we nipped across the road to the most incredible place for a croissant and a coffee - The Apple Orchard. We sat out in a beautiful cottage garden in the sun and then on the way out popped into the shop which sold gifts, cards, handbags, stunning furniture and even Hypnos beds! There was also a lot to do from the doorstep: the Hell-Fire Caves, Dashwood House, lovely walks, and in the evening The George and Dragon was the perfect village pub location to unwind before bed. The pub garden was also stunning. Big car park.

United KingdomWell it was very empty and imagine it’s more thriving on a weekend. Some sort of help yourself breakfast option would have been nice. Instead we had to travel 3 miles in to Wycombe to get something when I was visiting family in the village it was abit ridiculous to travel there a back for some breakfast. Sink wasn’t clean was full of black hair like someone had shaved their beard. There could have been more human presence or self check in like key coded box or something as I wouldn’t have minded checking myself in like some Airbnb’s as it seemed more suited to that when quiet. Also I was finally booked into the haunted room and I didn’t see any ghosts at all.
The fact it was a very old building in a small village and they had happy hour for 2 hours in an evening on some pints it was £4 a pint. Rooms are very spacious.

United KingdomThe bed was VERY,VERY creaky, the slightest movement created a racket. The food was awful, for £16 I ordered fish and chips with mushy peas. The chips were homemade but soggy, the fish was obviously cooked from frozen and somewhat soggy, mushy peas in a plastic tub. For £12/14 my wife ordered lasagne which again appeared to be from supermarket frozen was 1/2 thick if that, and arrived with some salad, my wife's favourite meal but she struggled. Luckily it was Happy Hour and the Guinness and wine were cheaper.
Parking and location were fine as was the room.

United KingdomUnable to use the shower, because the door wouldn't open to the cubicle, it seemed jammed. We did point this out to the staff on checking out. No breakfast facilities. The hot water took a long time to get hot in the sink. So unable to have wash. Furniture in the whole building is in need of some update. All in all £80 seems very steep for this hotel
The bed was very comfortable and we got a good night's sleep

United KingdomVery cold room, only has 1 small storage heater by the door to heat the whole room and 1 window didn't shut properly, it was -5 outside. The curtains didn't close properly and on entering the room there was a really bad smell. Only one of the bedside lamps was plugged in and I didn't want to plug the other one in as the plug fitting was hanging off the wall.
Good location, with historical interest. Friendly staff.

United KingdomI paid extra for a Deluxe King-size room. The toilet was still dirty, the shower did not work and this was known by the Manager as she told me to try. The room was cold as was the whole building. Room could not be changed on first night but was placed in standard double on next 2 nights. Staff were as helpful as they could be, and apologetic, but the senior management do not seems to support the maintenance or upkeep of this historic public house and hotel.
