Bed not very comfortable, a futon and mattress, so i did not sleep well. It was extremely shabby! But i guess it was value for money at only £36

Elizabeth was really kind and helpful, and got up early to make me a cuppa. It as ok in terms of cleanliness, could have been cleaner. But i was not paying a lot, so cannot expect too much!

The bathroom was cold.

It was great. The owner was very kind and solved all the problems we had. I couldn't speak much English, but she explained everything to me carefully. And when you go out into the hallway you can hear the parrots whistling. It's very pleasant. The bus stop to Edinburgh was just a 3-minute walk away, so the location was great. It's not a hotel, so it's a bit inconvenient, but the price is reasonable and the owner is a great person, so I'm very satisfied. Thank you very much.

· Where to begin? Room doesn't have a keyhole, you cannot lock the room from inside. Nobody was there at the house when we came in, but imagine staying in a homestay and you cannot lock the door from inside. Anyone in the house can just open the door and can come in. My find found it hard to sleep knowing the door was unlocked. Kitchen was nasty, half eaten pet food was in the kitchen top. House was full of pet smell. Washed linen sheets were hanging from the ceiling as we enter the house. If it wasn't a late check in, I wouldn't have stayed in the room and would've found another place to stay the night.

We could not have stayed in this totally unacceptable property..dirty...animals in cages in living area..kitchen filthy .sofa bed not as advertised We had to arrange with difficulty and cost alternative accomm...we are now out of the UK for 3 weeks but wish you to know how unacceptable this whole experience was and will be in touch with and they we will be in touch with Booking.com as soon as we are back

I was late for the check in because of the flight very bad the worse thing I have seen even they couldn't pick up call to attend I rang door bells no answers. Litterly the worst situation ever because of their service. I spend around 70 pounds for taxi just for their non responsible behavior.. Booking. Com I don't want refund but I don't want that other sufferers because of their behavior worst thing ever seen in my life

We were looking for somewhere cheap to sleep overnight as we had an earlyish flight from EDI. On first blush, this seemed to fit the bill nicely. Admittedly, I didn't fully read every word of the listing. However, I did not expect what we got. On arrival, i found the property was a 4 in a block ex council house in a council type estate. We could not gain entry as the keysafe code I was given was incorrect. A phone call to the host revealed that she'd overlooked my booking and said she'd be home at 7 pm (it was currently between 4 and 5 pm) to "pull the bed down and make it up", but did give me the correct code. On entry to the property, I was met by a set of wooden shelves laden with paint pots, packets of plant food, etc. There was a skateboard and approximately 8/9 pairs of shoes on the stairs. The hall was painted in purple and yellow neon paint and done in a camouflage type pattern. There was also a strong smell of animals. On entering the main floor, we found that days washing hanging from the ceiling, and being over 6', found my head right in the middle of it. At least two sets of ladders, amongst other things, adorned the hallway.. We were then greeted by a cheerful whistle from the parrot in a room off the hallway. The smell of animals got stronger. I opened the living room door to find NINE rabbit hutches against the far wall. By this time, enough was enough, and we left to find an alternative again, receiving a cheery whistle from the parrot. On the plus side, I called the host again to tell her we'd not be staying as arranged and after a little discussion agreed on a 50/50 split refund based on her missing my booking and me not fully understanding her online line description. I did expect the parrot, and on reading the description again, do recall reading about the rabbits. However, I expected them to be outside in the garden in proper and appropriate animal accommodation.

Price, host seemed helpful and friendly enough.

Lovely quirky home with a fantastic talking parrot! The bed wasn't super comfortable as it was a sofa bed but it was more than made up for by the friendly warm welcome and cosy atmosphere. Excellent location near the bridges and a short taxi ride from the airport.
