Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere was no public bus from the hotel into the town. The grass on the pitch and putt green was much too long.
I liked the size and cleanliness of our room 26a. We enjoyed the lovely grounds and gardens. And we enjoyed an afternoon drink outside in the sunshine. I also liked the proximity of the hotel to the Town Quay and shops.

United KingdomWe were very disappointed in the breakfast the bacon and beans were cold and looked and tasted like it has been hanging around a long time, the mushrooms were greasy, the hash brown is awful you would be better giving people fryed bread or toast. I must say the poached egg was nice it had been cooked fresh and it was hot.
There was a short walk to the room to the car park. It was a nice size bedroom very clean, but we could'nt get the coffee machine to work.

United KingdomThe outdoor steps up to the first floor suite were very difficult when carrying a heavy suitcase. I think assistance was available if we had asked. Our end-of-block suite (No 5) had east facing patio doors onto a small deck with two chairs and a small table overlooking the towel store, glass recycling bin and a well used farm track on the other side of a high brick wall. Behind us, looking over our morning-sun-deck was a large window into the gymnasium with a well used running machine clearly visible and audible, so the deck wasn't somewhere we spent long time. The decking outside the suite has a water and slip-proof coating but was in need of repair and looked a mess. The building has sharply sloping roofs and the table for tea and coffee making was against it. That wall was peppered with greasy marks (only visible in direct sunlight) where guests had cracked their head leaning over to make a drink. The same problem occurred with the sloping roof where the sofas were placed. The dining area included a smart double fronted cupboard with drawers and shelves. but it wasn't accessible because of the room layout with the table and chairs up against it. Had we stayed a full week I think we would have rearranged all the furniture to make the space more friendly and accessible. Having two tvs was handy but the controllers were different and there were no instructions not even on the tv itself. It took us 24 hrs to realise that one had a small "EPG" button (electronic program guide) instead of a "Guide" button that showed channels available. Several hotels we have used recently seem to have abandoned the 'Hotel Guide' folder in favour of guests phoning reception for help, advice and information. I don't find that very user friendly. Most of the accommodation is away from the main hotel building so everyone has to walk outside to the breakfast or dining room, regardless of the weather.
We upgraded to a suite after being offered a slight discount and the extra room space was very useful. The bathroom looked spotless and spacious, the bed very comfortable and there was lots of wardrobe space with enough hangers for a short stay. Reception, hospitality and house-keeping staff were great. Breakfast included a wide range of fresh and baked items as well as traditional hot food and plenty of fruit. The room space had two large sofas and two armchairs, plus a dining area with four chairs for eating-in. A nespresso coffee machine and kettle allowed us to make hot drinks as we pleased. There were plenty of plugs and a table lamp included two charging points. Every flat surface had a glass top so drinks could be put down anywhere. There was a tv in the lounge area and another in the bedroom. The walk in shower and extra long (but quite narrow) bath were much appreciated. The wonderful Elmers Court building housed reception, the bar and adjacent dining room (used only in the evenings). Breakfast was available in a light, airy building next to the pool and gym entrance point. The grounds were well kept and a walk down to the river estuary was very worthwhile. The car park was busy as it also serves the gym and spa but there always seemed to ne a few spaces available at all times of the day.

United KingdomThe breakfast Bacon was very dry. So I ordered the vegetarian breakfast the next day, which was freshly cooked. We thought the buildings and the cleanliness of the swimming pool needed improving. I was quite shocked that since this was in many of the reviews that there was no improvement of this. The regular members of the leisure complex advised us that complaints were on deaf ears. This is a shame as the large clump of hair on the side of the pool could easily have been cleared up. The bathroom was dirty in the corners, the paint was flaking on the bath tub, and the back of the door needed revarnishing.
The area of the hotel was beautiful and close to pubs and walks.

United KingdomThe rooms are definitely looking a bit old fashioned and tired. They are clean and comfortable but could definitely benefit from a bit of a spruce up.
The overall facilities for the money is really very impressive. I live in the New forest so would not have stayed in this hotel unless it was such good value for a nice night away. There are other reviews not rating this hotel highly for the decor and quality of the spa. However, the other arguably nicer, spa hotels in the new forest are 2 or 3 times the price. For the money, Elmers court is very respectable and also right next to the ferry for the Isle of Wight should you need this.

United KingdomWe hadn't realised that the room was detached from the hotel and opened directly onto a communal courtyard. Glass front to the room was the only natural light source, which made juggling privacy and light difficult. Just beginning to need redecoration. Lighting in room not enough to read by - but I find that in many hotels these days. Could have done with a few more hooks for wet coats in room, and for clothes in bathroom. Shower screen not tall enough for a tall person, so floor often wet, but soap too high up to use in bath! Reception staff did not always fix the problems we encountered (internal phone not working, washing machine failed mid cycle).
Both evening meals and breakfasts were good. Wait staff were pleasant, but some better trained than others. Well equipped gym and lovely grounds. Room cleaning crew friendly and worked around our late starts.
