We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Iceland1) I paid via Booking but the staff thought I had not paid and contacted me via WhatsApp. This caused me great stress but in the end I got my rooms. 2) I booked two double rooms but maybe they gave my room to someone else when they thought I had not paid, because I ended up with one double room and one single room where I had to squeez two persons in a singled bed. They stopped answering my messages in WhatsApp when I pointed this out.
Facilities were clean and kitchen and common room was big. Close to a bus stop.

BelgiumThe bathrooms and kitchen are clean. The rooms that face the road are a but too noisy. Initially we booked a room with twin beds, but upon arrival were checked-in into a room with a double bed, which was bot acceptable for us. Happily the owner arranged a second room as this booking mismatch was their mistake.

United Kingdom- if possible don’t wait until day before to pay. Money came out my account and had been revived by booking.com but host contacted me 2 hours before check in to say he hadn’t received the money and we couldn’t be let in until he had. Explained we have paid and have proof, but he wanted us to sort this with booking.com ourselves (on a bank hol weekend) luckily money was received by him and we could check in - unfortunately, as with other reviews, the property has some issues with check in. Requires an app that’s easy to download however we never received the text we required so had to call the owner to come and let us in. Instructions potentially need to be made clearer. - arrived and no keys were in our lock boxes, someone was already in one of the rooms we were supposed to be staying in and the other didn’t have a key. As a result one of our rooms was bumped to the budget room (which we did not book and didn’t not get any money back for) and has a slightly smaller bed. The blinds didn’t work well. That being said bed was comfortable, albeit a little small for two. - when we tried to discuss this and asked to be moved to a different room, host became angry and started to call booking.com to cancel our booking there and then (on a bank hol weekend where everywhere was booked up) as he didn’t want to receive a bad review. We managed to persuade him not to. To the host, this review is aimed to give an accurate and as fair a review as possible and to provide feedback to yourself for future guests, it is not written maliciously.
- very clean - two new and well equipped kitchens, kept well - three bathrooms, two of which have a shower, all very clean and well kept - dining area in conservatory - towels provided - host was very contactable and came to property/answered quickly - wifi - free parking on drive, room for 2 cars

New ZealandNo recommendation from us for this place. We never received the self check in email with information about wifi and how to access the building. Apparently there was an app we were to download for access to the main door then a lock box code for the room key. There were 3 other rooms filled that day and none of them were able to get in the front door either. We managed to get wifi password from another person staying to be able to see we needed the Yale app - so download it but couldn't login as there were no login details. Spoke the next day to the maintenance man who rang and asked to send information to us again. Never received to date. On our last day all 4 rooms were unable to get out or come in the main door with the fancy app lock - hence we had to leave with our luggage by the window at the back of the house. Very disappointed as it was unsafe not being able to use the main door in or out and this place was not cheap! No sign of an apology and not expecting to hear from them. Steer clear of the place.
The bed was comfortable and we had cookies on arrival.

United KingdomExpensive. (But it all is in Edinburgh) They tried to make it all automated so they don't need any staff on hand... but none of that worked. The guy had to come down to let us in. Also - the listing is misleading. There's an image of a shower under 'standard double room' giving the impression that rooms are en suite. They are not. Bathrooms are shared. No kettle in the room.

This reservation was made weeks before hand, the money was charged from my account a week ahead of time, and yet they waited until the MORNING OF THE RESERVATION to cancel the whole thing, claiming they were overbooked. It was 9 AM on a Saturday during a bank holiday weekend, and instead of exploring, I was stuck in my previous hotel fruitlessly looking for a replacement. Worse, they sent the message that they were overbooked in between two other messages, one that welcomed my reservation, and the other that gave instructions for how to enter the house when I arrived. It wasn't until Booking emailed me as well that it was clear I had no place to stay. The hotel I ultimately ended up at was more than twice the cost, and further out to boot. This was deeply unprofessional from start to finish. There's no way they only found out they were overbooked until 9 AM the morning of, and they certainly had no problem charging my card in advance, but couldn't extend me the same courtesy in canceling my reservation. They also had no reason to believe I had access to internet to see their multiple confusing messages -- I could have been on a plane, driving, or simply out of cell range. It was in the middle of a holiday weekend, after all. Would not recommend under any circumstances...if it goes well, great, but if it goes poorly, you won't know until it's much to late to fix anything and you'll end up paying through the nose for their mistake.
There's nothing to like when your reservation is canceled the day it's supposed to start and you have to spend your travel time searching for a last minute replacement.
