The room was quite stuffy and no fans were available.

The staff was kind, helpful, and informative. The breakfast was wonderful with plenty of options and especially love the espresso machine! The room was spacious for myself and family and beds were comfortable.

It was a lovely hotel but a bit disorganised and some attention to detail would easily enhance it.

Unfortunately the fire alarm went off several times in the early hours which disturbed our sleep. I don't think it was adequately explained why this happened and I got the impression it wasn't a one off! We also had to request for our room to be serviced as the housekeeping knocked on the door at half past eight before we were ready to vacate the room but they never returned. Things seemed a bit disorganised. I was disappointed there was no hot vegetarian option at breakfast so I had to make do with the cold buffet despite paying the same as my meat eating partner.

We have stayed at the Castle Hotel before and love the location and peace.

    Nothing of any significance.

The hotel is very characterful, having formerly been a castle and a bishops residence. It is centrally located in the small but picturesque town of Dornoch. There is abundant available free parking. Our room was of a good size, nicelyl furnished, well equiped and with comfortable beds. The bar was cosy and welcoming with a real fire in a magnificent stone fireplace, a legacy of the historical significance of the building. There is an impressive array of Scotch whiskies on display! Breakfast in the large dining room was excellent comprising a varied selection of cold meats, cereals, cheeses and pastries.

Many of the rooms are in a more contemporary extension at the back of the property and these lack the character of the main hotel. The rooms could benefit from some upgrading but were fine for our one night stay.

The hotel is in a lovely location in the heart of Dornoch. It is a beautiful castle building with attractive garden. The staff were lovely - and very helpful including afterwards - sending me an item I had left in the room. The food choice in the restaurant was excellent - we had a great evening meal and breakfast.

The one bit of criticism I have is the fact that the glass bottles were thrown into recycling right outside our room in the yard past 10pm which is not ideal when you have a young toddler who you’ve just managed to get to sleep and then suddenly you hear the crashing of glass which was really loud especially at that time of night.

The housekeeping was a little lacking within the room itself however management addressed this for me very quickly and were highly responsive which I really appreciated.

The location is stunning, the rooms also very nicely decorated and presented. The hotel staff were lovely and we had a lovely evening in the restaurant and then in front of the open fire in the cosy bar. There is a stunning back court to take in the sun and relax.
