My room was above the bar. After 11.30pm there was late night noise when they were shutting up, from noisy staff as well as them dragging chairs and closing the shutters. I think by putting I was travelling for work they thought I was a contractor because the corridor my room was on had several very loud residents, who just after closing time were banging on each other's doors and talking extremely loudly in the corridors. I ordered a roast veg pizza for tea, in my room, the chef may have been thinking they were being generous with all the mozzarella on it but it was actually an inch thick in places and the veg, onions and peppers were pretty much raw as the entire topping was undercooked. I could only eat a couple of slices (and I'm a full pizza kind a person).

Location was great for work. The reception staff were extremely efficient, helpful and friendly. The grounds looked stunning and I would have liked to have gone for a walk had it not been pouring down on both evenings Room service menu not over priced compared to some places.

Could have been more signage for hotel guests on arrival. Its a large complex and driving in we missed the reception and had to drag luggage back from the car a fair way.

The location was great for a stopover for a night. Good size room which was very comfortable. Used room service which was very efficient and the breakfast which was included was excellent. Lot of sporting facilities which we didnt have time to use but appeared to be very popular. Easy check in/out

Desk lights unable to be plugged in. Jug had to go on floor to plug in. Just a minor change up of furniture would make things more comfortable.

Restaurant was good. Room adequate and could be a lot better with some adjustments.

The rooms were a bit tired looking but that didn't bother us.

The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms were huge! Beds were comfortable. We were there for a weekend to enjoy Newbury races so good location. Lovely grounds. Exceptional value for money.

Lovely place to visit if you're a fan of golf or want to be within driving distance from Highclere.
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Triple Room - Manor House
    • Stayed 4 nights

The room was comfortable but the beds were uncomfortable and on wheels that didn't lock, which meant that they were slipping around every time we tried to sit on them. The room was very stuffy with only one window opening a tiny bit so we found ourselves quite hot most of the time (and we had the one little fan on that was provided by the hotel). Ample of cupboard space but the layout could be a lot better. There was 1 chair and the TV was in a position where we were unable to all view it comfortably. Could do with a second bedside table too, as it was a triple room. There were also a lot of spiders around, with several on the ceiling at any one time. Understandably it's an old building but we had housekeeping attend every day but the spiders remained hanging above our heads.

The hotel is within a gorgeous castle-looking building and is in a great location if you want to visit Highclere Castle (about 20 minute drive away). The grounds are also gorgeous but not walkable as there are golfers constantly on it.
