Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe steep and low attic ceiling is kinda 😬 and my husband cracked his head a few times. 6’ + tall folk may need to be warned about that. Also the fridge makes a sudden humming sound at night that jolted us all awake, but ceased pretty quick once we worked out what it was. Another visitor mentioned it in a review so we were waiting for it. Not really a negative point for the place, just a point of reference for others. It didn’t have any negative impact on the stay at all.
This property is literally walking distance from the zoo, we timed it at 11 minutes walk door to door. The apartment is small and open plan, with everything you could need for a short self catering stay. We managed to arrange a grocery delivery for essential items and even tried just eat (a novelty as we live in a rural area) and they found the place easily. The nearest train station I’m Bache and the number 1 bus stops across the road at the Wheatsheaf and goes to Chester city centre. This accommodation is perfect for a small family as they offer a double bed and a sofa bed and both were comfy. It was also immaculate and the host who lives in the main building next door was friendly but not overly involved. There is a swing seat just outside to sit on but we didn’t use it as we went for nightly walks. We really loved the skylight windows and the shower was divine!

Lovely apartment, cosy in December, modern, everything we needed was there. Easy parking on the gated premises. We enjoyed the view of the Christmas decorations in the front garden!

United KingdomNo iron or ironing board. Whilst sleeping in the bedroom, we were woken up on both nights at different times throughout the night by an alarm going off. Sounded as if it was coming from somewhere below us. TV in bedroom sound was broken.
A lovely warm welcome with Christmas lights, secure parking, cosy living space, very clean and modern. Close enough to city centre for Uber and easy to find.

United KingdomNothing!!!
We liked everything - it was in a quiet area but easy to get to Chester Zoo and onto Chester itself. The apartment was very well equipped - the bathroom had a heated towel rail which kept the bathroom and towels warm (which I like)!! Clever and ample storage in the bedroom with socket for hairdryer near a full length mirror - important!!! Secure parking behind keypad gate. Teabags and coffee and milk sachets were handy.

United KingdomNothing. Everything was just excellent. We were able to come and go as we pleased. Didn't like the fact that we had to leave.!! Lol
The Hospitality overall was second to none. We were updated before and during our stay by the owners who stayed next door. They asked daily if we needed anything and were very friendly when we met coming to and fro the apartment. We chose the apartment as it was near Chester Zoo and boy was it near. Only at the end of the road. Five minutes in the car. I am planning to go back again. The garden area etc. was so inviting and utterly charming.

lovely location, such a nice surprise to find a lovely canal walkway so close, ideal location to walk to the zoo and just a lovely apartment for two, ideal! only scored 1 point down in comfort due to the hubby being very tall and the bed having a wooden end 😆 but that’s more his problem tbf

United KingdomThe property is in a prime location to visit Chester zoo, being a 10-minute walk away from the entrance, and the local area is very peaceful, feeling safe to walk around in the evening. There are a few pubs, restaurants, and corner shops within a 10-minute walk, and there is a park and ride close by that can be used to get into Chester with ease. The property was very clean and modern, featuring plenty of comforts necessary for a stay. While we didn't get the chance to interact with the hosts in person, they were very warm, friendly, and helpful in their messages on booking.com
