Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsI came twice to borrow a hairdryer, but it was just never there. My room was at the very end of this maze-like building, so that was a bit annoying (not sure if the other rooms were full). The location is not bad, but a bit far to walk to the centre but too close for a single ride with the public transport (which costs £2), so maybe something to take into account before booking. The automatic bathroom light was terrible, it went off every 2 seconds of no movement.
Fully equipped kitchen, warm room, bright room with openable window, Sainsbury's local is just right downstairs, 24/7 receptionist, close by bus and tram stops.

United KingdomThe mattresses were a little uncomfortable. It would have been good to have had a cloth, washing up liquid and tee cloth in the kitchen so we could clean up better. We did have the disturbing incident of man entering our room in the early hours of Friday morning. There was a man who was shouting outside every night until the early hours. Don’t suppose much can be done about that,
Location was excellent and the facilities were good. The kitchen was a bonus as was the food storage. We asked for, extra pillows which we were given. The complimentary bits and pieces in reception were a good idea.

CanadaRooms extremely small and you can hear everything outside and through the walls. The bed was very small and extremely uncomfortable. When asked for another blanket they were unfortunately unable to give us one which was disappointing especially because they made a point to tell us that not all their accommodation was occupied and they had many empty rooms.
After another booking canceled on us we were rebooked to stay at this location. Overall it was fine for being placed here however it wouldn't have been where we selected. The staff was excellent I will say, very friendly and helpful and small items were available free of charge which was nice (shampoo, ear plugs, tea). Shower was nice and hot. Location was close to the tram and shops.

Destiny Student – Shrubhill is student accommodation. Understand that and there will be no confusion. As student accommodation goes it is very good. Spacious sized room with ensuite bathroom. Separate kitchen. Good security. Destiny Student – Shrubhill location is excellent. Directly on Leith Walk which is a happening place. Destiny Student – Shrubhill does not have any parking. You have to take your chance on the streets surrounding the accommodation. If you are lucky you can find within a few hundred metres.

United KingdomThe stove (or the pan) wasn't quite working as expected, making the cooking really slow. It might be the pan incompatibility. We also unfortunately booked the place in a high season, lowering its value-for-money.
The room is clean, and still okay to be occupied by a couple. There's a shared kitchen in which you can cook and store your food in the fridge so you might be able to cook rather than dining out. Expected facilities from a campus accommodation.

GermanyThe bed was very soft and worn out. And note they are small - might not be for everyone to share this. We knew and were fine though.
Great basic but fairly priced accommodation, rooms are fine with what you need, liked that there is a shared kitchen. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There are complementaries such as tea, coffee, milk, toiletries etc. good location, close to the tram station. Could even walk 20 min to the centre. There are restaurants around and a supermarket literally downstairs.

United KingdomBooked this for my parents and they struggle a bit getting in and out of bed cause it's placed beside a wall and there was not a lot of space. Also our rooms were at the end of a very zig-zaggy corridor and got disorientated a couple of times. Rooms were close to a kitchen that was VERY noisy at night.
Location is very good. Plenty of options for bars, coffee, shops. Rooms are brand new built. 24h reception is super helpful.
