Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomAlthough advertised as disabled friendly, the corridors were very narrow & sometimes difficult to navigate.
Excellent interior designs. Only 10 mins from Bowness by car.

United KingdomThe only things missing was a parasol or awning for over the hot tub but we asked at reception and we were supplied with one promptly. I would suggest maybe a dustpan and brush for inside the pod and a heater outside for the colder months. But everything was pretty perfect honestly.
Loved the location and privacy of the pod, hot tub and log burner. Just stunning. The food was beautiful and the hotel and grounds were so nice. I would definitely return and highly reccommend a stay at the damson dene 🙂

United KingdomThe cabin would benefit from having some plastic wine/prosecco glasses 😊
The location was just a 10 min drive from Bowness, in beautiful countryside. The view of the garden from the restaurant, as we ate a delicious, well cooked breakfast, was a delight. We stayed in a cabin and had the pleasure of the hot tub in the early evening after a day of exploring.

United KingdomRegular cleaning of the rooms was not up to mark. The bathroom extractor fan was super noisy and all room doors slammed a lot. It was hard to make a quite entry exit without disturbing others or being disturbed by others. Some variety needed in the breakfast for those staying more than one night... adding some fruits and ensuring sufficient quantity of fresh bakes would be nice to make sure they dont run out halfway through the breakfast time. If you are a 4 star hotel hiring a chef, I am sure you can do better than boiled mushrooms and fried tomatoes on a buffet for 4 days in a row. Sadly, the sauna was not working and the changing rooms needed some serious upkeep. We had requested an early check in at mid-night, which we got a response to through Booking.com as "arranged free of charge", after we had called the property the afternoon before travelling and requested the accommodation from that night, which came at an added cost for checking in at mid-night... so we were charged for the same at check out 🙄 Can't say I was pleased at the communication delay from Booking.com or the hotel costing me a whole nights worth... but hey-ho.
Beautiful surroundings, big family rooms with great views, very helpful and polite staff members. We were travelling with an elderly parent and our child... n our initial room allocation was very far apart. It took some time to sort, but Martha and Joseph were super helpful even late in the evening to get us rooms closer together. The hotel corridors are like a maze with 2 or 3 buildings connected together, which was a bit intimidating at first, but we quite enjoyed the little walks to n from the room 😄 Nice little swimming pool area with jacuzzi and a steam room for a relaxed evening. Has a gym attached with brilliant views, though we didn't use it. The treatment room therapist, Sharon, was a lovely lovely lady. I will recommend the lava stone back massage, but some of the other treatments like pedicures were very basic. Plenty parking spaces on site with a lovely restaurant and bar.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike, just for few bits of improvement, the drainage in the shower area was blocked and its glass door was bit clumsy. It can be improved.
We liked the location, facility inside the hotel, the family suite which was having good privacy. The view outside the room was amazing particularly while enjoying the hot tub. Breakfast was good, we enjoyed every bit of it. Plenty of parking space.
