Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesLovely and quiet yet easy to get to the village and everything else to see in Speyside. The staff took great care of us. Our breakfasts and dinner was exceptional. We will definitely stay again on our next trip back to Scotland.

In many years I’ve never come across a place quite like Craigellachie Lodge. It’s nothing short of a unique gem in the heart of Speyside. The Lodge itself is a stunning old house in Craigellachie which is a magical wee town on the banks of the river Spey. It’s situated in the heart of Craigellachie but cutely nestled at the end of its own private driveway tunnelled and secluded by rhododendrons. On arrival, you’re always thoroughly warmly welcomed as if you were old friends, with big smiles and good cheer. Once settled in you can mosey back around to the well furnished cosy Whisky Bar. The Bar is finely curated with some of the most excellent and occasionally very rare whisky available. The bar is the pride and joy of Scott, one of the Lodge’s proprietors and you’ll be able to find some real gems there. I’m not going to tell you what bottles Scott’s keeping hold of there.. because I want some of the stuff to still be there by the next time I visit. :D The Lodge is run by Jodi and Scott and their excellent staff who work to keep the experience at Craigellachie Lodge tip top. You’ll be invited to dine in their excellent Restaurant which I highly recommend. The food is extremely good and the Restaurant itself is cosy and welcoming and relaxing. If you’ve already made plans that’s never a problem, they’re not precious and there’s of course no obligation or expectation that you’ll eat in the Lodge. The Lodge is more of a Hotel than a BnB, but it definitely very cleverly blends the two. They’ll never see you go without and if you need recommendations of other places to go or visit or do, the amazing staff or Scott or Jodi are always keen to help out and give recommendations. I recommend doing the Whisky Tasting experience in the Speyside Whisky Shop which has connections to The Lodge. We also hired bikes from Right To Roam which is nearby. The staff and welcome and experience here are second to none. Big Thanks to Scott, Jodi and Sam for everything.

United KingdomCharged extra for coffee at breakfast at a £175/night hotel was a very new experience. Apparently this was because it was premium coffee (latte) which made even less sense given everything else offered for breakfast was of very high premium quality.
Stunning location and property, very clean, quiet

Service and choice at breakfast was terrific. Room was spacious with lovely ensuite bathroom including generous shower cubicle and free standing bath. Bed was quite hard for me but my wife found it quite comfy. Evening meal was very tasty with open fire as backdrop. Choice on menu is a bit limited if you plan to stay for several days. A well stocked bar and comfy lounge for relaxing make for an all round great break.

United KingdomOnly negative was the wet-room style shower! Not sure how you are meant to use the bathroom after you’ve got the bathroom sopping! Maybe more people lounge in the free standing bath in the bedroom and then still have a dry bathroom!
Absolute gorgeous small country house hotel. Would love to book it out with friends and pretend it’s my country pile - even if just for the weekend! Beautiful room, comfy bed, lovely freshly cooked breakfast. We were visiting our daughter (who cooked dinner for us!) but having had breakfast, would have like to have tried dinner here, as the food was lovely! Great little bar and beautiful drawing room. Looking for a venue for a small, intimate country wedding? Consider this place - your photos will be gorgeous!

United StatesThe only thing that would have been better was if we could have stayed longer. We were only there for one night so we were not able to enjoy it longer.
The location was wonderful as it was a haven hidden away from any busy areas. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Scott was more than helpful with information about the area and shared valuable and interesting information about the various distilleries in the area. The breakfast went beyond our expectations. My husband isn't a traveler, but wants to return to Craigellachie in the future. An added plus was the ample parking space.

CanadaI don't normally bother with reviews but this place was worth it. Beautiful boutique hotel in an old manor house. The room was updated but maintained its historical charm. Dinner at the in-house restaurant was fantastic. Finished the night with a few drams in the well-stocked bar (great selection of local distillers) where the owner was very knowledgable and happy to make recommendations. Would happily return.
