Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe fan in my bathroom didn't switch off which was a bit disturbing at night. The fan in my wife's roof didn't work at all. And the shower in my room had a lot of mold which I find unacceptable because we had to pay £75 per room for cleaning costs.

United KingdomI understand that it was summer and the heating couldn't be put on, but Wales is too cold and there was still some cold at night when there is no sun. I would have loved for the heating to be on to make me more comfortable. Other than that, it was a great experience. The room was the right size with all other facilities available to make your stay nice.
Staff answered the call quickly and met me to hand over the keys without delays. All my questions were answered politely. The stay was lovely. Room size and preference was met and the location was perfect. The required facilities to make my stay enjoyable was available. I will recommend that others should book this accommodation without delays. The price is very affordable and trust me the experience will be nice too.

United KingdomThe common areas weren't cleaned often, i.e., the bins were without bags for a couple of days, and the bathroom was prone to have water in the floor from the shower and no drain to easily take care of it.
The room was spacious and it had a desk so I could work comfortably with a sea view, the kitchen was spacious.

BelgiumHad to upload ID card before arrival, when we arrived nobody to meet us, everything closed. A helpful Security guard spent an hour trying to find where on campus the booking.com reception staff where. Only after he walkied around, building to building shouting where are you Booking.com? Did someone finally appear. In meantime on the contact no, I spoke to someone who claimed to be the manager, who stated that the EU ID card that we uploaded did not have a date of birth, but would not accept that it does, twice on the front and back, even has the place of birth! He insisted he was not going to let us stay, unless we didn't upload it again. But refused to answer why uploading the same ID card that he refused to accept wound change anything. However the person we had now found on site, said the room was ready, so we finally got our room. The security staff told us that this was always happening.

United KingdomNo cleaning was done during the whole week. Towels were not changed. No additional Toiletries after the first day. The bins in the communal kitchen were not emptied. After receiving the key, the host was not available and did not answer her phone. It’s very much, look after yourself and buy what you need locally. There was something black on the sheet, the duvet cover had a hole in it, a little mould in the shower area. The information provided on parking charges was incorrect.
Self catering facilities were available. The carpet and surfaces were clean. The room had a wardrobe and desk. The room was a nice size and looked out onto the courtyard.
