Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI would say that the lounge is the least inspiring part of the house, it feels a bit drab and lacks coziness.
The age and character of the property are beautiful, located in one of the few remaining beautiful fragments of Medieval Coventry. The property has been expertly updated with modern features whilst maintaining the the best features of this early 15th century home. The keyless entry system is very convenient and works well. Bed in the top master bedroom is very comfortable, with good quality bedding.

ItalyIt is just above a pub; so, it was slightly noisy at night.
A nice and cosy experience in a historic cottage for the whole family, right in the middle of the city centre. Thank you for your warm hospitality and the general cleanliness observed.

Netherlandsthe location was one of our only concerns, it’s very central with is both a blessing and a curse, we were very close to everything at all times but at the same time were a little nervous about the amount of people always walking right past our front door. However it is beautiful that a bit of history is preserved from the city and you almost feel Royal staying here!
we had an absolute lovely stay in swanswell gate. the property is beyond stunning and we enjoyed staying here so much! the owner was very quick to respond to any questions as well and everything was lovely and clean with lots of facilities to make use of.

United KingdomMore coffeee please, only two pods and one milk pod, the only negative I have found.
I was blown away by this property, and would book this again! It's is simply stunnging and the photos do not do it justice, you are set right in the heart of the City, with view's of the Holy Trinity Church to one side and the remains of the cathedral of St. Mary to the other side. As well as being in a proprty steeped in history staying in a 12th Centruary building, because Coventry is pedestrainised it was very quiet. It's a brillian location, right near all of the bars and restaurants. The customer service from the people who run this, was exceptional and even though it was through message and e-mail we were kept informed, and when we had questions we recieved a response in moments. I would highly remommend this accomodation, and look forward to returning!

GermanyHost can't help this but outside our front door is a walkway and it was very noisy with people walking past/hanging out in front of the cottage until 300am. The very steep stairs were scary and the 1st floor/2nd floor are not level flooring and slant significantly.
location was excellent -- right by the Holy Trinity Cathedral, nicely decorated inside the cottage, very clean!

United KingdomRight next to whetherspoons so may be noisy at weekend but we popped in for a drink and late night food so didn't bother us.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom maisonette with my sister and Mum for a graduation. Property was large with a bedroom and bathroom each which we loved. Only there for one night but it was warm, clean and had a brilliant location. Would recommend

United KingdomBeautiful stay, comfortable and clean. We had a problem with the shower and they upgraded us straight away to the Swanswell Gate gatehouse and it was like winning the lottery! I have never stayed anywhere so perfect. We are so grateful for the kind and thoughtful treatment of the staff. Will 100% stay in any of these properties when next in Coventry.

United KingdomNot necessarily something we didn’t like but was a bit of a pain, the shower does need some attention, think it’s just a drainage problem and needs a good clear out and appreciate the age of the properties but I washed my hair so was in a bit longer and had to turn the shower off a couple of times as it was draining over the lip on to the floor. And can see that it’s been doing this for a while as there’s water marks, and had to mop it all up. So just something that’s maintenances
Beautiful property and amazing value for money! perfect location, easy to arrange with Laura who sent a code over straight away as this was a last minute booking as we’d been to Coventry for the day and decided to make a night of it, and we’re so pleased we did! Was so pretty inside and the amenities were fantastic. Thank you so much. Will def be back again. 😊

United KingdomA few areas of paintwork needed touching up and one of the toilet seats was not fixed on, making it unsafe. TVs wouldn't connect through WiFi, so needed to hot-spot from phones. Area behind the building is a meeting point for daytime drinkers and some unsavoury characters, but not the responsibility of the property owners.
Beautiful historic building, tastefully renovated using high quality fixtures and fittings. Lovely decor and very sympathetically restored. Easy booking and good contact from the property staff. Unlikely to stay in this area of Coventry again, but would recommend the properties to anyone staying for a night or two in this area.
